Alana & Simon
Alana and Simon’s romantic Red Hill wedding captured everything they love about the Mornington Peninsula. From brightly coloured florals, beautiful backdrops and a very special place in their hearts, they chose Anthea Auld to capture their day.
The newlyweds tell the story of how they came to be. “We met down the Mornington Peninsula through mutual friends 10 years ago. As the region has always been a special place that we have loved to visit over the past 10 years, there was no question that this was where we wanted to share our special day with our closest family and friends.”
Alana chose a Jenny Packham gown for her wedding dress, explaining, “I wanted something with a relaxed silhouette that I could dance the night away in. I also knew I wanted something with tulle and beading so when I found this dress I knew it was perfect.”
Andrew Healey sang a version of Sam Smith’s “Latch” as the bride walked down the aisle. “Andrew Healey, our musician for the day was a standout. He’s an absolute natural and one of the loveliest people you’ll ever meet. When we told him we wanted Latch-acoustic by Sam Smith for our aisle song but we weren’t sure how it would work, he went to the trouble of doing a pre-recording and sending it to us so we could be comfortable with it – we both felt emotional as soon as we heard it, it was perfect.”
The couple chose St. Peters, Shoreham for their marriage ceremony. “Just like everything else we had planned for the day we also wanted our ceremony to be really relaxed – we had lots of comments that it was, so that was great.”
Of their photographer, Alana and Simon remember, “We were lucky enough to have the amazing Anthea from Anthea Auld photography. She is an absolute professional, her dedication to capturing the perfect shot and her incredible passion and enthusiasm were contagious. We were so lucky to have her capture our day. Dawei also assisted Anthea on the day and he was fantastic – willing to go to any length to get the perfect shot!”
The newlyweds celebrated with their guests at Red Hill Epicurean . Alana noting “Simon and I knew it was the perfect venue for us the second we walked in. The food is amazing there and it was a really nice touch to have Italian food served at our wedding given that we both have part-Italian heritage.”
Poppy Culture created bright organic feeling floral arrangements for the day the bride explaining, “We wanted a relaxed feel for the day as well as a party atmosphere – we really just wanted everyone to relax and have a great time. As far as the aesthetic – the Epicurean is such an amazing venue in itself so we really didn’t need to do a lot – we just had beautiful bright relaxed florals running down the centre of the tables as well as some amazing arrangements by the bar from Poppy Culture florists. These tied back in perfectly with our stationery in the same colours by Papertoken.”
” The Limoncello wedding favours were a nod to our part-Italian heritage and the amazing Italian food served on the night.”
Paper Token created beautiful floral printed stationery, Alana explaining, “Daniel from Papertoken did our invites, menus, place cards, seating chart etc for the day – he did an absolutely stunning job. Right from the outset he understood our brief and just did an incredible job executing it all – we couldn’t have been happier.”
For the first dance, musician Andrew Healey performed a live version of Mumford & Sons “I Will Wait”.
