Kylie & Matthew
I didn’t meet Matthew, the love of my life, until I was in my late 30’s, however he was well worth the wait! After our first date I knew I had met someone special and it wasn’t long before I knew he was the one!
Our wedding day was truly magical and everything I had wished for. Dreams really do come true! We married after being together for five years at Barrett Lane in the Swan Valley. The venue was a perfect choice for us as we could have both the ceremony, reception and photos all in the one beautiful location.
It was so fun getting ready! I did my own hair on the day. It was 39 degrees so we all decided that wearing our hair up was a definite! Kaila from Elegant Edge did a lovely job on my bridesmaids’ hair. We all did our own makeup. I enjoyed all my makeup shopping trips. I’d highly recommend Urban Decay’s All Nighter setting spray. All our makeup survived the heat of the day.
Our garden ceremony was just perfect. I am such an emotional person and I really thought I was going to cry, however I was just so happy to be marrying the love of my life that I just couldn’t stop smiling and surprisingly held back the tears.
Being surrounded by all our friends and family meant so much to us and truly made our whole day so special. I loved our wedding arbour with the “We Decided on Forever” sign; it was just perfect.
I had originally wanted a bohemian style lace dress with a flower crown in my hair, however after shopping at Collezione Bridal Couture I fell in love with quite a princess style dress. Matthew loved my dress. Every time I showed him bridal dresses in magazines he always loved the princess bride dresses the best. As I was 44 when I got married I wasn’t sure I could or should wear such a traditional dress but I’m glad I did. My advice is go with what you feel best in. I really felt like a bride in my dress!
My beautiful bridesmaids were my gorgeous daughter and my youngest sister. They both looked so angelic on the day. Their outfits were so lovely, matching my dress beautifully I think. The boys all looked so handsome in their blue suits. Awesome bridal party!!
Barrett Lane was truly is an idyllic venue which suited our vintage rustic theme perfectly and was ideal for our 68 guests. Small and intimate. Just how we wanted it. Additionally I really enjoyed decorating and setting up the reception myself and Barrett Lane allowed us to go in the day before and do this.
I enjoyed adding all my own personal touches. I especially loved my little vintage porcelain woodland and cat figurines on our table settings. As well as the vintage books I hired from Heart Strings and Pretty Things. As I am an English teacher and an animal lover this represented my love of classic literature and animals perfectly.
The flowers from Alice and Rose were just stunning and I set up a ‘flower station’ so that our guests could wrap and take home a bunch of flowers from the wedding reception. I couldn’t stand the thought of them being thrown away. I also especially loved our vintage photo booth and our fun props!
Our photographer, Carla Atley, was wonderful; she captured the day beautifully.
The food was amazing and everyone complimented it. I would highly recommend Showcase Catering. Our cupcakes, biscuits and wedding cake from Niknaks Sweetest Treats looked so pretty too!
Our DJ really got the party started too and everyone enjoyed dancing the night away. The whole reception had a really fun positive vibe. I didn’t want the night to ever end! Our wedding was truly the best day of our lives and I am so happy to have my amazing husband by my side for the rest of my life!
