Carly & Michael
I love when an engagement session is just a couple as they are. No pretenses, nothing that isn’t exactly them. Jackielyn Powell captured exactly this for newly engaged couple Carly and Michael who almost didn’t have an engagement session – I for one am glad they did!
Carly explains, “Originally we didn’t really see any need for engagement photos. We cringed at the thought of some of the typical engagement shoots you see. It just wasn’t us! We chose this style because we wanted something relaxed and natural. We didn’t want anything too posey or set up. We really just wanted photos of us being ourselves and having fun.”
Carly tells their story, “I met Michael through a mutual friend during a night out on the Gold Coast. It wasn’t exactly love at first sight, it took us about a year and a half before we finally got together!”
Of the proposal, Carly remembers, “We got engaged while holidaying in New Zealand. We had been traveling around the South Island in a camper van, when we arrived in Wanaka the weather had turned terrible. It was cold, windy and raining. Michael had some how talked me into going for a walk up Mount Iron. By the time we got to the top I was cold, grumpy and wet, and that was when Michael proposed. It was definitely a huge surprise and I could not have been happier!”
