Sophie & Symon
When it comes to a beach side wedding full of elegance, then I think Sophie and Symon’s relaxed beach glamour wedding certainly ticks the boxes for a celebration that turned out to be nothing short of stunning. The couple chose Noosa for their wedding, working with photographer Ivy Road Photography to capture their day.
Symon fills us in on the story of he and Sophie met. “I first noticed Sophie the day she arrived for her job interview at the Advertising agency I worked for, she had my eye from that moment! On Sophie’s first day at the agency, she ‘found’ herself in the lift with me and we discussed the forthcoming Staff Christmas party in Hamilton Island. I encouraged her to consider staying on for a few extra days with me and some of their other employees. Perhaps coincidentally, we were seated next to each other on the plane to Hamilton Island, where we found we had much in common. Our bond began in Hamilton island. I arranged a surprise getaway weekend, in late 2014, back to Hamilton Island. I woke Sophie at 5 a.m., with “pack a bag…we’re going on an adventure!” Once we settled in the resort, I proposed we share the rest of their lives together.”
Sophie chose a ball gown from Raffaele Ciuca, Symon noting, “It was big…mermaid like! Soph wanted fabulous, figure hugging and heaps of personality.”
Sophie and Symon chose Noosa for their wedding, holding their wedding ceremony at Maison La Plage. Symon telling, “We wanted a destination wedding, somewhere both families had to travel and spend extended time with everyone. Noosa was the obvious pick based on family time there for Soph. I am from Canberra and Soph’s from Melbourne. We love the beach and relaxing so knew that Noosa would be the great choice.”
Sophie walked down the aisle to Higher Love by James Vincent McMorrow.
Jackie Gray officiated the ceremony, the groom remembering, “We wanted it to be very personal. We spent time writing our own ceremony and vows. Our good friend, James Jordan, sang Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran and both our mothers signed the registry. Our siblings were all in the bridal party and our niece and nephews were pageboys and flower girl.”
Of their photographer, Symon notes, “Shelley (Ivy Road Photography) was a stand out. She has a eye for natural light and her photography treatment matches the setting of Noosa. She captured the moments that matter, nothing was forced. The location allowed for the green of the lush coastal trees and the blue and whites of the beach. Later at the venue the sun set perfectly in the Noosa hinterland for photos on the jetty. We couldn’t have asked for anything more.”
While the newlyweds had their photos taken, guests enjoyed a champagne cruise before picking the bridal party up and dropping everybody at the reception venue – Ricky’s Noosa.
“We loved the happiness everyone had for us. Creating the best memories with our favourite people in the world. Buying our home a week before the wedding. Sharing beautiful Noosa with everyone. The start of our next adventure together.”
Emily Jabour and Made To Match Events planned and styled the wedding, the stationery designed by the groom himself.
Tome created a decadent wedding cake for the newlyweds.
Of the first dance, Symon remembers, “We chose Van Morrison “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?” for the first part before breaking out to Whitney Houston “How Will I Know”. So much fun!!”
Congratulations Sophie and Symon! Thank you for sharing the stories of your day with us! Thank you also to Ivy Road Photography for sharing today’s celebration!
