Alice and Max
There is a beautiful simplicity to Alice and Max’s wedding day. One beautiful outdoor venue, a stunning clear sky and two people who chose that very day for their marriage to begin. Alice and Max worked with photographer Florido Weddings to capture their day.
Alice kicks us off with the story of how they came to be. “We met in Bondi, in Sababa on Hall street, whilst waiting in line for a falafel wrap! This led to our first date – a picnic in Bondi, overlooking the beach. A few years later, Max proposed to me in the Hunter Valley whilst we were away for a romantic trip to celebrate my birthday in June 2015, staying in a beautiful little cottage near the vineyards. We went for a walk at sunset and then Max got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I said ‘yes, of course’!”
Simple handmade touches were dotted throughout the day, Alice telling, “My Mum made the name place cards which were absolutely beautiful. They were hand made from sturdy white card with hand picked ferns to decorate them.”
Alice chose Jennifer Regan to make her wedding gown, remembering, “I bought my dress from Jennifer Regan in Newtown – a beautiful, lace lined with silk A line style classic wedding dress. I was after a very traditional, classic look, being from England! After weeks of trying on dresses in generic warehouse type places in the city I was starting to worry about finding the right dress. My Mum who lives in the US actually looked up Jennifer’s website and recommended that I go and see Jennifer. I had the most wonderful experience with Jennifer, I can’t thank her enough! As soon as I first met Jennifer I knew she’d make me look wonderful on my wedding day! Jennifer was extremely patient and understanding and knew exactly how I wanted to look and how to make me look my best! She just ‘got it!’ and she made sure she made me the most perfect wedding dress that fit brilliantly well. I couldn’t have been happier. I felt so comfortable in the dress and everyone commented on how gorgeous it was. Max loved it too!”
Alice and Max chose Horizon Byron Bay for their wedding noting, “We got married at a beautiful venue called Horizon, in the Byron Bay Hinterland with breathtaking views of the ocean and hinterland “. Byron Bay Weddings planned and styled the event. “Byron Bay Weddings provided fantastic wedding support since the moment we first met with them, and I was 100% confident that they would ensure the day was a huge success.”
A string trio played a mix of classical songs as the processional began.
Derek Harper officiated the ceremony, the bride remembering, “We wanted the whole day to have a relaxed, casual feel.”
Of their photographer, Alice remarks, “Callie Marshall from Florido Weddings was an absolutely fantastic photographer to have on our wedding day. Callie made the whole day feel fun and very relaxed and we could not have asked for a better, more experienced photographer! We are so delighted with the photos from the wedding. In fact, we love all of the photos so much that we still can’t decide which ones to get framed!”
Of their first dance, Alice remembers, “We danced to a very impromptu decision of Oasis ‘Wonderwall’ for nostalgia since this was Max’s favourite band growing up!”
Congratulations on your marriage Alice and Max! Thank you for sharing your special day with us! Thank you also to Florido Weddings for sharing today’s special day with us.
