Anna & Leigh
Anna and Leigh wanted a simple, classic affair for their wedding day and a classic Spring wedding fit the bill. The newlyweds met working together at a local cafe more than ten years ago and the plan for their day was simple. “A a fairly traditional wedding and reception with a relaxed and fun atmosphere.” They chose Georgia Verrells to capture their wedding day.
“We liked the idea of similar but not identical bow ties for the groomsmen, so they all ended up wearing a navy blue bow tie with different size polka dots.”
Joanna Blair styled the makeup on the day, Anna remarking, “Joanna Blair the girls’ make up artist was amazing. She is incredibly talented and professional with such a calm and lovely demeanor. She comes very highly recommended.”
Anna wore a gown by Baccini and Hill, telling, “The dress was a sweetheart neckline strapless dress with a slight dropped waist and tulle skirt. There was tulle crossover detail on the bodice with some lace and beading in between. I bought it from Baccini and Hill during a big sample sale, it was a one off that had not been chosen for the next season’s range. I had my mum with me and it was a fairly painless exercise, I just knew when I tried it on that I loved it and we bought it on the spot!”
Anna and Leigh were married at a special sentimental venue, Star of the Sea Chapel, Gardenvale. “We had the ceremony at Star of the Sea Chapel where Anna went to school. This had sentimental value but is also a beautiful chapel. Anna walked down the aisle to ‘All I Want is You’ by U2.”
“We wanted our ceremony to have a sense of occasion, and for there to be a feeling a joy. We included two Bible readings and a poem read by our friend called ‘I will be there’.”
Of their photographer, the newlyweds remark, “Georgia was very relaxed yet professional and she had an assistant who was great fun. They were very easy to get along with and we shared lots of laughs. During the times where we weren’t taking posed photos, we actually barely noticed they were there!”
“Family is very important to both of us so we wanted to involve our families as much as possible. All four of our siblings were in the bridal party, Leigh’s mum did a reading at the ceremony as did Anna’s Aunty and Uncle. Both of our dads made speeches too.”
“During the time between the ceremony and the reception, we rode around the golf course on golf buggies and had photos taken with the bridal party. That part of the day was so much fun, racing around and laughing with our friends and family.”
Yarra Yarra Golf Club hosted the reception, Anna and Leigh telling, “We held the reception at Yarra Yarra Golf Club. When we looked at this venue, we both loved the building and the character in the function room. The staff were also incredible, our guests have been raving since.”
Of their first dance, the newlyweds remember, “We chose ‘Stay with you’ by John Legend. A few weeks before the wedding we choreographed a short dance ourselves which was a bit of fun.”
Congratulations on your marriage Anna and Leigh! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Georgia Verrells for sharing today’s wedding.
