Megan & Nat
There is such a beautiful feeling to Megan and Nat’s sweet rustic wedding. The gorgeous homemade details, the sweet pastel bouquet, the gorgeous “field of dreams” and their story which weaves its way throughout they day. The happy in love couple chose photographer Shutter And Lace to capture their wedding day.
Megan tells the story of how they met. “We met at our church as we were both helping out with the kids program. It was definitely love at first sight.”
Megan chose a stunning, lace cap sleeved gown Collette Dinnigan for BHLDN. She remarks, “The dress was called “Rococo” by Collette Dinnigan. The dress, as per the style of the wedding, encapsulated rustic elegance. The chunky lace and capped sleeves gave the dress the perfect amount of detail.”
The bride chose a Christian song for her walk down the aisle, remembering, “The song was the instrumental to Embers by Hillsong. Its piano chords and whimsical overtones made it perfect. It also had the perfect build up to create a entrance for the bride.”
The ceremony was held at St Stephens Uniting Church, Toowoomba, Megan adds, “It is a stunning old church with beautiful grey brick. Being an architect, this old beauty was perfect (rain, hail or shine!). It allowed us to seat all our guests and any other visitors who wanted to share in the ceremony.
The ceremony was done by our Pastor who has known us for so long, which made it extra special. Two of our close and talented friends sang the song Forever Reign also by Hillsong. Two of our close friends also read the scripture.”
Megan’s bridesmaids wore pale pink gowns from Forever New and one had something very special happening which made for a fun wedding day story. Megan explains, “The whole day was a dream! It was especially funny having my sister who was due to have her baby that weekend, as my maid of honor. Luckily for us her beautiful baby stayed-put, and she was able to enjoy herself and have a dance at the end of the night. She wore heels the whole day too!! She looked so beautiful.”
Toowoomba Flower Market created the beautiful floral arrangements for the day which featured pale pink proteas. “All of the vendors we used were fantastic. I especially think the Toowoomba Flower Market did an amazing job of the bouquets and certainly were able to deliver exactly what I wanted.”
Of their photographer, Megan remarks, “Shutter and Lace were absolutely amazing! It was such a cool coincidence too that the assistant photographer was a guy I studied architecture with. I only found out the week before. One of our biggest priorities was choosing the perfect photographer as we knew this was the way we would be remembering our wedding. One look at their website and we were sold. Their photos were stunning and their use of nature just perfect (we LOVE nature). They were so great in that they scouted such great locations.
They found us, what we refer to as, ‘the field of dreams’ which was a huge field with wild fox tail grass growing. The colours and textures were incredible and the way it picked up the light as the sun set, and rolled over the landscape was breathtaking. ”
Artisan Cake Couture created a pale pink two tier cake topped with beautiful blooms. “The cake by Artisan Cake Couture was incredible. She designed it according to the bouquet and the icing flowers were so realistic.”
The fun, restaurant feel of Gipps Restaurant, Toowoomba made it the right choice for Megan and Nat’s reception. They tell, “For the reception we went to Gipps Restaurant Toowoomba, also known as the historic Clifford House. With its beautiful gardens, and arched windows we fell in love with it straight away. We had the reception in the Billiard Room, which had a beautiful old fireplace that we put a large floral arrangement on.”
Of their first dance, Megan remembers, “Our first dance was to Taylor Swift “You Are In Love”. The words to this song are so beautiful and tell the journey of falling in love where (as we did) from the start you just know. It tells how things start small; “Your shoulders brush, no proof one touch, you felt enough” to completely understanding what it all means and how you can be so naturally perfect for someone.”
For a special added extra to their day, Megan and Nat chose Roost Film Co to capture their film. Just as the photos capture the sweetness of the day, the film brings it even more to life.
