Australian designers are a special breed Producing beautifully crafted, well thought out designs, a new collection from our own Aussie soil is always one of my favourite things. Sami & Sita has been crafting gowns in Sydney for over ten years.
Designer Maria speaks of her inspiration drawn from fashions of yesteryear and from her travels around Latin America, Europe and Asia. The designs simple, wearable and beautifully handmade, each made form beautiful fabrics like French tulles and lace that speak of Sami & Sita’s made in Australia commitment to quality. Rather than created seasonally, Sami & Sita create their gowns with different styles to be worn immediately.
Maria also draws inspiration from her own personal stories, noting “One of my favorite recent inspirations and one very dear to me personally was a beaded design I sketched for a bridal gown traced from an embroidered tea towel made and hand embroidered by my late Nonna (Italian for Nanna) The towel, now yellowish with faded torn embroidery is an artwork in itself!”
Sami & Sita gowns are available via their website or in store at their Paddington boutique.
