February 27th saw Sydney’s bridal industry gather at Chiswick at the Art Gallery of New South Wales for a bridal breakfast with One Fine Day.
Chiswick at the Gallery, which you can now book for wedding receptions, is a contemporary dining and bar space nestled inside one of the most beautiful art galleries in the world. With grand detailing that creates a sophisticated atmosphere, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is an exciting option for your celebrations.
As we entered Chiswick for the One Fine Day bridal breakfast, the beautiful floral arrangements by Aleksandra immediately caught everyone’s attention. Placed down the centre of the tables were stunning arrangements of water lilies, lotus flowers, orchids, hydrangeas and passionfruit vines, all of which complemented each other beautifully.
Once guests took their seats, we were treated to a delicious spread of breakfast treats from Chiswick before the panel of experts took us through bridal trends for 2016. The panel of experts including Aleksandra, Karen Willis Holmes, Viktoria Novak, Love 2 Love and Benefit Australia took us through their insights for bridal styling, flowers, fashion and beauty.
So for all those brides to be planning a wedding this year, here’s what you need to know!
STYLING & FLORALS – Love 2 Love & Aleksandra
Styling would have to be one of my favourite aspects of a wedding! I love seeing how each couple expresses their individuality through their styling. Jason from Love 2 Love took us through the key trend of metallics for wedding theming. Metallics are always luxurious and this trend is perfect for all the brides who are obsessed with gold foiling!
Jason and Aleksandra then took us through floral trends which are all about atmospheric floral installations and arrangements with lots of height. This includes arrangements cascading from the walls, ceilings and unstructured table arrangements. Sounds magical!
FASHION – Karen Willis Holmes & Viktoria Novak
Bridal fashion is such a special part of the wedding and this year bohemian luxe is going to take centre stage. We’ve seen the boho look for the past few seasons however this year, it will take on a much more polished look with graphic laces and intricate embroidery – I can’t wait to see all the beautiful brides who choose this style!
To complete the look, Viktoria Novak detailed how many brides are opting for something unique and fashion forward rather than a matching headpiece. If it’s a regal look you’re after, Viktoria Novak’s crowns are always a favourite amongst brides and this year will be no different.
BEAUTY – Benefit Australia
The makeup products we all know and love! Hanna from Benefit took us through the key tips for bridal makeup which includes PPT; Prep, Prime, Tint. In the lead up to your special day, invest the time in your skin (Prep) with cleansing and hydrating. When it comes to your makeup on the day, prime your skin to create a silky smooth base for your makeup and then tint.
Benefit have a gorgeous selection of tints for lips and cheeks to keep your colour lasting all day and night. In terms of particular styles, matte lips with smokey eyes are still are favourite and brows continue to dominate beauty looks. Let’s keep those brows well looked after ladies!
