Relaxed Zonzo Winery Wedding

A gorgeous day of sunshine and vines captured the hearts and minds of Carla and Dave, so they planned a relaxed Zonzo winery wedding for their big day. A sweet little church was chosen for the ceremony, the bride and groom driving themselves to the reception as a special twist on wedding transport. They chose Perla Photography to capture their day.

Carla chose a gown from Rachel Gilbert and wore her sister’s wedding veil, remembering, “I got my dress from Rachel Gilbert. I had been to a few bridal stores and tried on a few different dresses before going to Rachel Gilbert store. As soon as I put the dress on and walked out I knew it was the one. I absolutely loved it!”

Carla and Dave were married at St Brigid’s Catholic Church , the groom wearing a navy suit with black silk lapels from Briggins.

Carla chose “Feels Like Home” by Chantal Kreviazuk for her walk down the aisle.

Of the ceremony, the bride notes “We wanted our ceremony to be short and sweet yet capture our love story and the importance of our family/friends in our lives. We chose to write our own vows and recite these to one another. We had a selection of readings that we felt meant something to us and these were read by our siblings and some close friends. ”

Carla remembers, “One particular thing we did was drive ourselves from the church to the reception venue in our bridal car – a Valiant! It was lovely being driven by my ‘groom’ and having time just us to unwind a little and reflect on the ceremony.”

Carla and Dave chose Zonzo Restaurant for their reception, noting “From the moment we first visited Zonzo we knew it was the venue for us! It has such a relaxed feel, beautiful scenery and atmosphere and we loved the idea of long tables and shared platters for our guests to easily mingle. The venue has a relaxed intimate atmosphere which is exactly what we wanted.”

Of their photographer, Carla notes, “We have known Laura for sometime and always known we wanted her as or wedding photographer! She is the most lovely genuine person and so down to earth let alone extremely talented! She is able to capture every little moment and able to make you feel so relaxed and comfortable! Her quality and service is amazing and could not have wanted anyone else capturing our special day!”

“Our wedding day was the best day of our lives and we loved every minute of it! We often talk about re-living that day all over again. Having all the most important people in our lives in one room is spectacular in itself.”

“We created our own invitations and made a scrabble picture board that symbolised our wedding day which we now have displayed in our home. We lost a family member a few years ago and organised our own bonbonnierre in memory of him. This was a donation to Beyond Blue. We organised with them to design our own personalised cards with a tribute and a Beyond Blue pin.”

Of the first dance, Carla tells, “We had a traditional dance where family celebrates by wrapping the bride and groom in streamers. This is a symbol of entwining them together in love.”
