Rachel & Chris
This simply beautiful wedding is just that. Rachel and Chris chose a Perth sunken garden wedding, with a simple and beautiful ceremony before they danced the night way right beside the water – their favourite place to be. The couple chose iZO Photography to capture their wedding day.
Rachel tells the story of how they met. “Chris and I met at university (hence choosing the Sunken Garden as our ceremony location). We were both studying geography and went on a field trip to Borneo together. After the trip we started to hang out a lot and not long after started dating.”
Donna Tobin Couture created Rachel’s wedding gown. She tells, “I absolutely loved my dress! My dress was designed by Donna Tobin. The dress was beautiful and I knew when I tried it on it was perfect! I tried on so many more but kept coming back to it, so I knew it was the one I wanted.”
Rachel and Chris chose Sunken Garden, University of Western Australia for their ceremony, noting, “We really wanted an outdoor wedding for the ceremony and reception as we felt it was more us. We really wanted to be married at UWA where we met and the Sunken Garden is so beautiful, so for us it was perfect!”
“The ceremony was beautiful. We got our good friend Christie and Rachel’s older brother to do our readings – we chose poems that reflected our chilled personalities and suited the day. We don’t actually remember what they were!”
Of their photographer, Rachel remarks, “We were so happy with our photographer. When we met with Jimmy we knew he was perfect for our wedding. We loved that he was really interested to know us and our story and what we wanted from the day. I am so glad we chose him. Our photos are beautiful, and I am constantly going through them and finding new favourites!”
Mounts Bay Sailing Club hosted the reception, the bride remembering, “The Mounts Bay Sailing club suited us perfectly as it meant we could have our outdoor reception. We wanted our guests to have fun and for us to feel comfortable. An outdoor cocktail function was our choice. We had spent a lot of time on this part of the river during our ‘dating’ time, and really loved it. The location was on the water with a view of the city.”
Rachel notes, “We kept things pretty simple however we did a few things ourselves including the jars (for flowers and candle), table runners, hand held fan decorating and invitations which were designed by a friend of ours. We were really keen to involve as many friends as possible. They helped set up, play music and keep things interesting. We couldn’t have done it without them. Absolute legends.”
Congratulations Rachel and Chris! Thank you for sharing your story with us! Thank you also to iZO Photography for sharing today’s wedding!
