Bridget & Matt
With a love of food, a sense of the now and a day of fun ahead, Bridget and Matt’s Modern Red Hill Epicurean wedding was all about created a relaxed informal celebration for their family and friends. They chose Perla Photography to capture their day.
Bridget tells the story of the proposal. “We went on a romantic weekend away between Christmas and New Years. Matt popped the question just before heading out for dinner much to my surprise after making a comment earlier in the day about marriage, and Matt gave nothing away.”
The groom and groomsmen wore suits with coloured bow ties from Formal Red Suit Hire.
Bridget chose a gown from Baccini & Hill, noting, “It was the first place that we visited and the second dress I tried on and I was in love. I had always wanted to have lace in my dress and this one featured it beautifully and was elegant and classic at the same time.”
Bliss Flower Design created the floral arrangements for the day.
Bridget and Matt chose Red Hill Epicurean for their wedding, noting, “We needed a venue that could comfortably accommodate our numbers and provide warmth for an end of May wedding. We also didn’t want a typical wedding venue and wanted something different. We walked into The Epicurean and feel in love with the space.”
Bridget walked down the aisle with her brother and father to “Somewhere over the rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole.
Wendy O’Brien officiated the ceremony, the bride noting, “We wanted a relaxed warm ceremony. It was held in the barrel room at the Epicurean in Red Hill. It made for a very intimate affair with ~180 people cosied into one room. The room had neon light in the shape of a duck which was the backdrop for the ceremony and wine barrels running down either side of the walls. It definitely suited the relaxed feeling we were going for and was a bit different.”
Bridget remembers, “I forgot I was meant to say “I do” during the first part of the vows and there was what felt like a long pause before being prompted to answer. Nerve wracking for Matt.”
Of their photographer, Bridget remembers, “Our photographer was Laura Perego of Perla Photography. It felt like she was a part of our wedding party there to celebrate our wedding with us. She managed to capture just the kinds of moments we were after. She guided us through the whole process whilst making it feel natural and fun. We were so lucky to have such a calming influence by our sides.”
Bridget tells, “We were very lucky to have our families and friends involved in the special details on the day. My grandmother did the table flower arrangements, my best friend made our wedding cake, Matt’s brother MC’d, our celebrant was a good family friend, my mum and Matt’s dad signed the register and both mothers did readings during the ceremony.”
The bride remembers, “We started our own tradition by having our first dance (“You Are So Beautiful” by Joe Cocker) to the same song that my parents had for their first dance.”
The Baker Boys kicked off a long night of dancing.
Congratulations Bridget and Matt! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Perla Photography for sharing today’s wedding!
