Kelsia & James
Kelsia and James had such a charming mood to their wedding day. Choosing a relaxed Yandina station wedding their main mission was having a day where everyone had fun and from the photos? I think they may have just achieved that in the most beautiful of ways. Kye Norton Photography was there to capture their day.
Kelsia tells their story. “Jamie and I met when we were 15 at our after school job. We became really good friends and were always spending time together outside of work. After about a year of us spending so much time together Jamie asked me to be his girlfriend… now 10 years down the track the rest is history!”
The groom and groomsmen wore suits from Asos – adding a polka dot bow tie to complete the look.
Kelsia had her gown made, telling, “I started looking through magazines and gathering a few pictures of different dresses I liked. I didn’t ever try anything on at any stores and living where I do there is a limited choice (only one bridal shop in town). I decided to go and see Kellyanne Russell a dressmaker who lives in town. I had heard so many amazing things about her and really loved that she lived here.
I booked an appointment with her and showed her all my ideas, what I liked and didn’t, she was really honest about what she thought would work best for my body shape. I knew I wanted something that flowed with beaded capped sleeves. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience, I was going for weekly fittings with and it was really fantastic to watch the whole dress come together. I think it helped having a dressmaker that I got along with so well and I loved that she was honest about everything, if she didn’t think one of my ideas would work she would tell me and I really loved that. I really loved my dress, it turned out exactly as I imagined. It was perfect.”
Willowbud Flowers created the stunning floral arrangements for the day.
The couple chose Yandina Station for their ceremony and reception. “We searched for a while to find a venue we both loved and that felt like ‘us’. We wanted something different from the traditional round tables with while tablecloths and we wanted to have our wedding somewhere where we could have both the ceremony and reception so our guests didn’t have to travel between venues. We had our ceremony and reception at Yandina Station. As soon as we arrived at Yandina and Neil showed us around we knew it was absolutely perfect for what we wanted, it was very relaxed but also beautiful. We loved that we could get married outside under the huge old tree and that the old dairy had so much character for our reception. I think it also helped that Sally and Neil were so great to deal with.”
Kelsia remembers “I walked down the aisle to ‘Two is better than one” sung by J & R Music.”
Lindsay Carroll officiated the ceremony, Kelsia remembers. “We wanted our ceremony to reflect us – Lindsay Carroll our celebrant really helped with ideas and wording. We wanted it to be fun but also really meaningful which Lindsay did perfectly. We wrote our own vows to each other but instead of reading a whole paragraph each we read a statement to each other back and forth like a conversation. It was great, it definitely helped to make us feel more comfortable. We didn’t have any readings during the ceremony but we did do a special thank you to both of our parents, just letting them know how much we appreciate their love and support and how much they inspired us to be the people we are today. ”
Of their photographers, Kelsia remembers, “We chose Kye Norton Photography. Kye & Em our photographers were absolutely amazing – there really isn’t enough nice things we could say about them. We had said from the beginning that we wanted someone young and laid back, we aren’t into the ‘stiff and awkward’ looking wedding poses you see. When we met Kye and Em we knew straight away that they would definitely be the photographers for us. The breakfast meeting ended up going for 2 or more hours when the 4 of us were all just talking. They were so easy to work with, really fun and made us all feel really comfortable. Our whole wedding party was always just in hysterics. All of our photos turned out perfect.”
With the couple living away from the Sunshine Coast, they chose Splash Events to style the wedding.
“Every single vendor we used were incredible. Most people I talk with say wedding planning is stressful, but to be honest I had a really fun time. I think that was because everyone we picked was so helpful and got exactly what we wanted the day to look and feel like. My favourite part of the wedding planning was the Friday before the wedding and watching everything come together at Yandina Station. I know you imagine things in your head and can show vendors pictures but seeing how everything worked together the day before on the day was great. It was all exactly as I imagined in my head and we were so lucky that everything went off without a hitch and had perfect weather.”
Of the first dance Kelsia tells, “We chose the “Sweetest Thing” by Shane Piasecki but the song was sung by J & R Music. It was a song that we both really liked and I used to always play it. When it came time to choose our first dance song it was a really easy pick – the words are really beautiful.”
Congratulations Kelsia and James! Thank you for sharing your wedding story with us! Thank you also to Kye Norton Photography for sharing today’s wedding!
