Our beautiful client Terii did not want to wear a conventional wedding gown; she wanted a dress which reflected her stylish and romantic flair. She came to us at PQ Fashions with some pictures of beautiful designer dresses that she liked as well as her some of her own sketches. From here, we started to bring her dream dress to life!
After talking with her (and asking lots of questions!), we were able to sketch up the dress she had in mind. We then helped her select this beautiful embroidered flower applique on tulle from Alla Moda Fabric Collection.
A toile was made first with white satin lining, and the tulle was hand cut and placed on her body to achieve the best effect.
To maximise the effect of the beautiful sheer tulle, we then used a nude stretch jersey to make a very tight bodice. Plain tulle godet were inserted to create a soft and full skirt.
As the dress started to take shape though, we could see that the large amount of flower appliques were beginning to overpower Terii’s small frame. We removed the sleeves and made new godets which were re-positioned higher up the thigh.
We completed Terii’s dream dress by hand cutting and strategically sewing more flowers around the bodice and sleeves.
Terii looked so beautiful in her dress. We also made her a very modern veil with a narrow comb.

Ms Chinoiserie Says: What a beautiful dress; the design and choice of fabric are just dreamy!
About Clare of PQ Fashions: Growing up being the daughter of a dressmaker, I am never far from beautiful fabrics and gowns. In all of my school and uni holidays, I would be in mum’s shop playing with fabrics, helping by unpicking stitches, and hand sewing sequins for customers. Tired of being a pharmacist, I began doing managing and marketing for PQ Fashions (mum’s business) and now I’m full time.
What a beautiful and dreamy dress! I loved seeing the process of the design and creation – from start to finish.
