Rowena & Mitchell
There is nothing more romantic that a beautiful wedding in the country and the relaxed vintage inspired wedding of Rowena & Mitchell captured by Flossy Photography
Rowena tells their story. “We met through mutual friends in Albany, Western Australia where we both currently live. We went to the same high school but didn’t know each other then! Luckily, our paths crossed at the perfect time for us both. When Mitch proposed, about four years after we met, I had been on a three week study tour with my university in China, with no phone and minimal contact – he must have missed me because he picked me up from the airport and drove me to a new block we had purchased just prior to me leaving and got down on one knee on the block and asked me to marry him! So sweet and an amazing welcome home.”
Rowena chose a lace gown from Anna Campbell, complete with a delicate gold hairpiece from Eleven Skies Studio. Her bridesmaids wore soft yellow gowns by Sheindress.
Lush Floral Design created the soft floral arrangements for the day.
Rowena and Mitchell chose the garden of Willyung Cottage for their ceremony, remarking, “My father in law is an antiques hunter and he found us our adorable ceremony location! Willyung Antiques allowed us use of their beautiful furniture in our ceremony, pews, tables, chairs and display pieces which when added to my father in law’s personal collection of items used to decorate (see bicycle in photos) – just fit perfectly with our day. We were married in the side garden of their bed and breakfast and guests enjoyed beverages in the antiques store after the ceremony.”
Rowena chose Nick Cave – Into My Arms for her walk down the aisle.
“Both of our parents have been married for over 30 years each and are such inspirations to us both. They were all so supportive of us leading up to our big day and so helpful. Further to that Mitch’s family are all from Queensland and having them all travel over was great (as well as all the other family and guests who travelled!)
Of their photographer, Rowena says, “We were lucky enough to have one of my oldest friends, who now has an amazing photography company – Flossy Photography, shoot our day. Her style is entirely reflective of us, we like things to be laid back yet romantic and she was able to capture that perfectly. It was so nice to have someone with us from start to finish on our big day whom we were both so comfortable with!”
“We truly have such amazing friends!! One of my bridesmaids lives overseas and traveled home to surprise me for my hen’s night a few months before the wedding! She then stayed in Australia until our wedding was over which was just amazing.”
Three Anchors was chosen for the reception, the bride remembering, “Our reception took place at Three Anchors on Middleton Beach in Albany. This is a fantastic laid back place with an adorable beer garden that also suited us perfectly. Three Anchors also catered for our event with delicious cocktail food.”
“We had a few DIY touches, I had used an old pallet to make a “Mitchell & Rowena” sign, we made our own signs for the tables and small decorations such as ties for our candy favours. My sister is a graphic designer and made our invites for us!”
As wedding favors, each guest received a bag of “Mitchell loves Rowena” candy from Roc Candy.
Of their first dance Rowena remembers, “Our first dance took place to Ryan Adams cover of Wonderwall by Oasis. We cut our cake and then immediately hit the dance floor for our first dance. From that moment on the guests filled the dance floor for the rest of the night – it was great.”
Congratulations Rowena and Mitchell! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Flossy Photography for sharing today’s wedding!
