Jayne & Daniel
I love the vibe of Jayne and Daniel’s wedding day. They decided there is no place like home and celebrated their marriage with a twinkling reception at their home along with their three children and plenty of their favourite people. But first? A church ceremony and plenty of fun at a relaxing afternoon tea. Bless Photography was there to capture it all.
The newlyweds tell their story. “We met under a street light one night, down by the side of the Nepean River and I knew that Daniel was perfect for me. It was wonderful on the day of our wedding to have our photo’s taken in nearly the same spot. Jayne and Daniel met when she already had two boys of her own. As their relationship grew stronger, Daniel became a wonderful parent and role model for her young boys. In 2011 they became engaged and were planning their wedding when they were surprised with the information that they were expecting their first child together, a baby girl. Sadly, Jayne’s father grew ill during this time so they decided to put their wedding on hold throughout his sickness and until after the birth of their baby. A few years later and they were able to have all three of their children involved in their wedding day!”
The day was loosely centred around a “there’s no place like home” Wizard of Oz theme kicking off with the magical wedding invitations by Eyes On Solutions.
Jayne and Daniel chose St Lukes Anglican Church at The Oaks for their ceremony, noting, “We were married in the very cute (and old!) St Lukes church out at The Oaks, surrounded by our family and friends. We held an afternoon tea on the church grounds and set up assorted garden games to entertain our guests.”
Jayne tells, “The wedding programs were printed by a friend and then Daniel’s mother and his God Mother rolled vintage inspired handkerchiefs around the program tying them with string and a tag for happy tears!” Ashdown & Bee created chalk board signs to guide guests.
Jayne walked down the aisle to Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
“You can see the nod to Oz in my ruby red shoes, our choice of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” as the song for the procession in the church and our invitations as dreams really do come true.”
Guests enjoyed pink lemonade and cupcakes (made by a friend) on the church lawns along with garden games and live music from Shane Edmunds.
Of their photographer, Jayne tells, “Tamar from Bless Photography was so easy and accommodating. Tamar was always available to answer our calls or messages and met with us before the day to make sure she had an understanding of what we wanted on our day. On our wedding day Tamar made it so easy. We have had friends that have complained about having the photos done on their wedding but for us at one point we said how easy and how much fun we were having just kissing and hugging and looking at each other. The time spent with Tamar was like it was just Daniel and I and no one else in the world.”
Jayne tells, “When Daniel and I returned from our photo’s our photographer asked us to give her a few minutes before we entered our house. So we drove around the block and parked the car. Exhausted we both reclined our seats and closed our eyes. These few moments together resting and rejoicing in our day were simply lovely.”
Festivities continued at the couple’s home, the bride remembering, “Then as we went to have our photographs our guests came back to our place to start a night of festivities – enjoying live music, canapés and being surprised by our black cab Photo Booth!! Our love for our family and home inspired our decision to host the reception at our place.”
“With the inclusion of pre-loved furniture, Daniel sanded, painted and stained chairs, tables and planks of timber. With Jayne’s design eye, these were re-purposed to furnish and decorate their home and the marquee in their backyard. Jayne personalized some second hand, glass top nestling tables by slipping old family photographs, postcards and their wedding invitation underneath the glass.”
“We wanted to really enhance our home’s already modern, country feel by continuing to add pieces that meant something to us – like the vintage milk canisters that my father, who worked for Dairy Farmers for 40 years (Jayne’s Father had passed away before the wedding due to cancer) had saved from his warehouse and given to me. And old photo’s of our parent’s and grandparent’s weddings. A re-purposed frame was made into a notice board for guests to pin vintage posts cards on that included their best wishes to the bride and groom.”
Of their wedding style, Jayne tells, “Rustic vintage with a nod to the Wizard of Oz – “There’s really no place like home when it comes to a wedding!” ” All Things Sweet by Carissa created a two tier naked cake with a wooden topper by Grain & Co. Guests received boxed Lemon & Yoghurt Loaves by Vanilla B Baking as their favors.
Of their first dance, Jayne remembers, “We chose You’re Everything by Michael Buble. We chose this song as we had always danced to it when ever we heard it at home or even once in a supermarket! We love the words of the song and it was a dream to dance under the stars, in our back yard on the night of our wedding.”
