Tracy & Roy
Long time readers know I am a sucker for a bride wearing colour but when you put with it with a wedding that is so completely personalised? I’m all over that! Tracy and Roy’s vintage rock and roll wedding was inspired by their love of all things vintage and captured by the duo Still Love Photography
As for how they met, the newlyweds relay, “Think two super shy socially awkward peeps liking each other from afar at work and you’ll get the awkward picture. Work colleagues leaked our mutual liking to each of us and we started our awkward dating ritual while trying to keep it all secret at work…which we managed to do for six whole months (this is a pretty epic effort I assure you).”
Tracy wore a red dress with a white lace bolero from Chein Noir Dezines accessorised with a birdcage veil from My Lavaliere and blue shoes from Hey Lady California. Her two bridesmaids wore black and white polka dot frocks by Hide N Seek Couture.
Tracy and Roy chose Booyembara Park for their ceremony, noting, “Booyeembara Park in Fremantle was beautiful. We looked EVERYWHERE for a park that was disability access friendly, easy to find but not crowded by the public, had parking, could fit all our guests, could be booked AND was very pleasing on the eye. Not that we were being picky. We did find this little known park and we are very happy we did.”
Tracy walked down the aisle to “Words of Love by Buddy Holly. (A hat tip to my Dad as he used to play Buddy Holly songs on the guitar to me growing up).”
Brad Whitelock performed the marriage ceremony.
Of their photographers, Tracy remarks, “Still Love Wedding Photography. The ultimate photographers for taking those precious moments. Not just those of us but also our loved ones. Also think arty, environmentally aware and a lovely couple to spend time with. Amazing service it was professional yet as if you were speaking with friends. :)”
A vintage car from Chevrolet Limousines South West transported the bridal party, much to the bride’s delight. “Oooh and there was the limo driver. He was super organised and absolutely loved his job and that infectious passion was inspirational. We both loved the overall vibe of the day. Words cannot express the service of this company. They are so prepared they make the groom and groomsmen make sure they have the music and rings and double check before leaving for the wedding. Has spare hair pins, parasol etc in the car. Has the esky filled with ice ready to go and ensures that everyone has their drink in hand? They even go out of their way to ensure that the bouquets are not squished and are handed out to the bride and bridesmaid as they exit the limo ready for photos. Old school amazing service.”
Mosman Park Bowling Club was chosen for the rock and roll reception, the bride remarking, “Mosman Park Bowls Club are AMAZING!!! The venue with the most stunning hill top view of the Swan River winding towards the Perth city provided a beautiful distraction to guests waiting their turn to play bowls. Even stunning as the sun went down and the city lights shone. The staff and club members were all helpful and a pleasure to chat to on the day and for all the times we showed up beforehand with tape measure and notepad in hand. A great venue for those looking for versatility on what their day will hold. Their recommended caterers Ultimo Catering were outstanding.”
The reception was filled with rock and roll touches – all made by the couple and styled on the day by Magic By Design. Tracy noting, “Soooo many DIY projects….where to start. Bridesmaids and parents pitched in to help make table runners, stamped cake bags, made black boards and turned into signs. All the invites, rsvp cards menus, table names and seating plan designed and created by the bride and groom. All record place mats handpicked from op shops by the bride, groom and the mother of the groom.”
Coxies Cakes created a red, white and black rock and roll inspired cake with mini figurines representing the newlyweds. Tracy tells, “OMG The wedding cake was epic! 20kg of delicious cake. It was modeled off of a cake we saw at the Perth Royal Show the first year of dating and we said we would get that wedding cake if we ever got married. Tick done!”
The Mighty Booths entertained guests with a fun photo booth.
Tracy remembers, “Ah the first dance…well let’s just say it wasn’t supposed to happen. Being those awkward shy people we are, we arranged for most of the wedding to allow us to have more party and fun with our friends and family and less about a spotlight on us. I guess the DJ/MC decided we really did want to do the first dance despite our request against it. To sum it up…it was well awkward.”
Congratulations Tracy and Roy! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Still Love Photography for sending this rock and roll wedding our way!
Oh I love it when people do weddings their own way! Congrats!
