Linda and Pete
To me there is something utterly magical about night time and weddings, so when Linda and Pete’s wedding came along – a relaxed evening celebration I knew I was in for something special! Fairy lights, candles and a dance floor in socks – sounds like just the kind of wedding you want to crash! Luckily Mark at Gold Hat Photography was there to capture it all!
The newlyweds tell, “We met when we were 13 on a mutual friend’s front lawn. Pete had been chasing Linda since then but we only got together when they were 21.”
Pete wore a very special tie, the newlyweds explaining, “The crest on Pete’s tie is his family crest. It was specially made by his friends at Assembly Label. ”
Linda chose a gown by Stone Cold Fox and paired it with metallic heels from Acne Studios. Her bridesmaid wore a soft lilac gown from Shieke.
Maggie May Flowers created bouquets of poppies for the bride and her bridesmaid.
Linda and Pete chose popular cafe The Grounds of Alexandria for their wedding, noting, “We only looked at two reception venues. The first one was an instant ‘no’. The Grounds was an instant ‘YES’. We had the ceremony there too. We loved that everything was included in the price, including a ridiculous amount of fairy lights, hanging baskets with flowers and candles. Pete is an Horticulturalist – so for him it was always about plants. The Grounds ticked that. Linda has her own business, Lunch Lady Lou and is all about good food. The Grounds ticked that box too. Mixed with some cocktails, that’s all we ever wanted for our day.”
The cafe provided a “cake of cheeses” in lieu of traditional wedding cake. Guests received vegetable and herb pots made by the groom as wedding favors.
Linda walked down the aisle to “Stumblin’ In by Chris Norman and Suzie Quattro.”
Linda and Pete describe their wedding as “Minimal formalities, maximum fun!”
Of their photographer, Linda and Pete tell, “Mark was wonderful. He is so relaxed and calm, when we met him for the first time we knew he’d deliver the goods. We are terrible at posing for photos so his brief was to capture the best candid moments of us looking amazing, without us knowing.. He was early (!) on the day and practically invisible but captured everything. Mark’s partner had gone into labour. He was amazing and gave us his full attention throughout the night, and his partner had a healthy baby boy the following day so he didn’t miss it!”
Linda and Pete note, “It was as relaxed as a wedding could be. No seating arrangements, huge buffet style dinner, lots of cocktails which resulted in lots of dancing.”
“Linda’s Gran (83) made a surprise speech that brought the house down! ”
Of their first dance, Linda and Pete tell, “It was to You Never Can Tell by Chuck Berry. (Pulp Fiction inspired) Shoes off. Pete’s red socks making an appearance. No rehearsals required, we dance in the kitchen every night.”
And after the last glass of champagne had been drunk, the couple jetted off on a trip of a lifetime, remarking, “Our honeymoon was booked through GG Inspired, a luxury travel advisor based in Sydney. She is amazing.”
Congratulations on your marriage Linda and Pete! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Mark at Gold Hat Photography for sharing today’s wedding with us!
