Dorothee & Ashley
When it came to planning their wedding, Dorothee & Ashley wanted something magical for their wedding day. The gentlemen donned bow-ties, the girls wore shades of peach and pink and they celebrated with some of Sydney’s most famous landmarks. This? This was a wedding to remember, Bradley Patrick of SugarLove Weddings was there to capture it all.
The groom and groomsmen dressed in tuxedos from Hugo Boss.
Dorothee chose a strapless ball gown from Pronovias.
For her walk down the aisle, Dorothee chose “”What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong played live by Opus 4“.
Dorothee and Ashley chose to marry at the Rose Garden, The Royal Botanical Gardens. The bride recalling, “The Rose Garden is a perfect venue for a summer wedding. Very little decoration and flowers were needed as we were already surrounded by blooming roses and other flower beds. We held the ceremony under the rotunda as rain was threatening, but it would also have been fabulous under the large figtree. The Rose Garden is very conveniently located close to one of the gate of the Botanic Garden.”
Guests were in for a little red treat. Dorothee remembering, “We hired two little red trains who took the wedding party to different parts of the gardens for photos, and took our guests down to Opera Bar for a few drinks while waiting for us. We then did a one hour harbour cruise aboard vessel “Proclaim” on our way to Fort Denison. This was a fantastic way to extend the celebration and entertain our guests, in particular the ones who traveled from overseas.”
Of their photographer, Dorothee tells, “Bradley Patrick from SugarLove Weddings was fantastic. He was very well organised and gave us valuable guidance throughout the day while staying very discreet. We love our wedding photos!”
Rosman Ferries transported the wedding party and their guests to the reception on “Proclaim”. Dorothee noting, “Fort Denison management organised the boat, staff, drinks and canapes.”
To the delight of international guests, Dorothee and Ashley chose Fort Denison for their wedding reception, the bride telling, “The magic continued once we arrived in Fort Denison. Is there a more magical wedding venue than Fort Denison? We do not believe so! Our heart was set on this venue from the onset and it didn’t disappoint! Liz Taylor from TE Catering (who manages events on Fort Denison) was terrific from beginning to end and we cannot thank her enough for the wise advice and flawless execution. The food and drinks were of the highest standard and the views of Sydney Harbour are unbeatable!”
Form Over Function styled the ceremony and reception and created the floral arrangements in shades of peach and pink.
For their first dance, Dorothee tells, “We wanted a memorable first dance so we decided to take dance lessons at the Arthur Murray Dance studio in Sydney CBD (we highly recommend it). It was a hustle on Kiss by Prince choreographed by Chris at the Arthur Murray studio and played live by the band The White Tree. We will never forget it!”
Congratulations on your marriage Dorothee and Ashley! Thank you for sharing your day with us, and thank you also to Bradley Patrick of SugarLove Weddings for sharing today’s wedding with us!
This wedding looks so fun and unique. It was special that they were able to incorporate a train and boat ride all in the same day. I love their menus. Really pretty.
So in love with those bridesmaid dresses!
Thanks so much for sharing so much of the pretty of this wedding we styled and created florals for @polkadotbride.
Working on the flowers for this wedding was sheer unadulterated joy — well possibly apart from having to get all of them, and hundreds of cut glass candleholders and more, safely across the water in a boat 😉 … but no, actually arriving and leaving by boat was all part of the magic of this one.
Can we do that again?!
