Rachel & Andrew
Canberra Gardens can certainly put on a show and that’s exactly what they did for the lovely engagement photos of Rachel & Andrew captured by Iconic Photography! The golden red backdrop of the trees, the depth and beauty of Lake Burley Griffin and the relaxed and fun relationship of Rachel and Andrew make for a wonderful Saturday!
On how they met, Rachel and Andrew tell, “We met through our church community group where are we youth group leaders.”
The romantic proposal story goes a little something like this. “Rachel had been planning a bush walk and picnic with Andrew at Namadgi National Park, south of Canberra, for a few weeks. Andrew had been planning for the day much, much, longer. Andrew personally designed the engagement ring he wanted to give Rachel using software on his computer. He then worked with a local Canberra jeweller to have the ring made. He also did the noble thing and asked Rachel’s parents the week before the bush walk if they gave their blessing for Andrew to ask Rachel to marry him. Of course they approved.
On their bush walk, Andrew tried to find the perfect spot off the main track, away from the other bushwalkers, to pop the question. This required more bush bashing than bush walking as Rachel recalls and she was starting to get a little confused why Andrew was so insistent to just go ‘a little further’. Eventually Andrew found the spot he was looking for which was suitably quiet, secluded and picturesque to ask Rachel to marry him. Andrew got down on one knee, asked for Rachel’s hand in marriage and got the answer every man hopes for. It is unclear who cried first but it is safe to say that thanks to all the tears, the patch of Namadgi National Park on which this joyous occasion took place won’t be in need of water for some time. ”
The shoot paid homage to their engagement, photographer Nicholas telling, “They wanted an outside photo shoot that fun, vibrant and involved a picnic. It has a nice connection with their engagement story. They are genuine, generous, funny and full of life and I wanted to create a photo shoot for them that showed this. I can’t wait to capture some more special memories for them on their wedding day. Oh, I must not forget that they are also great cooks and hosts. Following the photo session, they asked me to join them for scones and wine in the park. Delicious!”
