Maryse & Jude
When there are bright blooms and black and white stripes involved in a wedding plus a city scape lit up? I’m there, I’m enveloped and I’m diving into the details. This glam rooftop wedding has upped the glam factor and with one stunning flower filled backdrop has combined the the sophistication of the city with the fun and whimsical feeling of the newlyweds! Blue Print Photography was there to capture it all.
Maryse tells the story of how she met her husband. “Jude and I met on a blind date organised by Jude’s uncle and the mother of a child that I teach. We organised to meet three times but I had to cancel each time – I even broke my leg just before one of the dates which caused Jude to question if I really wanted to meet him in the first place! We finally ended going on our first date and we saw a lot more of each other from then on. During the same time, my mum found a prayer card at the church we attend and started praying to it to help find me a ‘good guy’- the saint she was praying to at this time was actually St Jude!! You can imagine the shock when she found out my new boyfriend’s name!!”
Maryse gifted Jude a book of their story.
The groom chose Calibre for his tuxedo.
Maryse chose a gown from Pallas Couture with jewels from Tessarella House.
Maryse and Jude married at St Mary Star of the Sea, West Melbourne.
Maryse walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon In D.
Guests received a sweet treat post nuptials, the bride remembering, “I made snack packs for guests to have at the church in case they were hungry. They were a lot of work but so so worth it!”
Of their photographer, Maryse says, “Chris Bekos from Blue Print Photography was a dream to work with. Jude and I knew immediately after meeting him that we had found the right person to capture our day. Not only is his work amazing, but Chris himself is so professional. He has such a warm and vibrant personality and a sense of fun about him. He was able to make us feel at ease and ensured we enjoyed ourselves through out the day. Our photos have captured the love and atmosphere present through out the whole day which can only be done by a fantastic photographer! He was brilliant!!!”
Maryse and Jude chose Luminare for their wedding, having it coordinated and planned by Piertra Siney from The Big Group. The bride remarks, “The Design Depot styled our wedding. They were fantastic to work with because they were so creative and had a great eye for detail. They were able to set the fun mood we wanted with great a great use of colour.”
Flowers Vasette created incredible floral arrangements for the day – including the centrepiece; a floral laden backdrop. Maryse tells, “Flowers Vasette provided all the flower arrangements for the day. Tess and the team did such an amazing job especially with the flower wall which was such a hit on the night.”
The groom ensured they didn’t forget their culture, Maryse telling “Jude really wanted to include a cultural side to the reception but we couldn’t think of how. We decided on Sri Lankan drummers and dancers that performed as we were entering the venue to greet our guests. They then left a beautiful passage way for us to enter which led to our first dance.”
The couple started the night with their first dance, the bride recalling, “Our first dance was to the song ‘Unbelievable’ by Craig David. We chose this song because of how appropriate the lyrics were to us as a couple. We did our first dance on the outside balcony of Luminare surrounded by our family and friends – it was a beautiful moment for us both.”
The groom surprised his bride with a special dance, she remembers, “I decided not to dance with my dad because of how emotional I would have been during it. Jude knew how much it meant to my dad so he surprised me by organising a special one with dad that only Jude and dad knew about! It was to the song ‘1000 years’ by Christina Perri. Jude and I began dancing to it and then dad cut in half way. It was the highlight of the night for me – it was filled with so much emotion. It was the best surprise! ”
The dancing kept going all night long, Maryse noting, “Nick from Rutherford Entertainment was our DJ. He ensured every one was on the dance floor by playing the right tunes that suited all ages. He also included some traditional music for our families to enjoy!”
