Melanie & Mitch
Melanie and Mitch chose Bali for their engagement photos because it feels like their second home and as home is where the heart is – could there be a more perfect spot for them to celebrate their engagement? The couple met up with photographer Saffron Photography and managed, after a day of torrential rain, to stay somewhat dry with romantic results.
On how they came to be, Mel says, “We met each other in 2005 at our local beach, and it wasn’t until we went on our year 12 ski trip, we started talking more and one thing led to another.”
On what she loves about Mitch, Mel tells, “I love how caring and patient Hamish (Mitch) is with me. How he has always supported me and how easy it is for us to be together. We both enjoy the simple things in life and I am very excited for our journey together.”
Mitch proposed in Japan, Mel telling, “Whilst snowboarding in Japan, we spent an afternoon making a snowman. When we were adding the final touches, Mitch hung the ring off of the snow man’s nose and then proposed.”
I got utterly confused when writing up Mitch and Mel’s story – Mitch was Hamish, or was he Mitchell? Melanie explains, “From very early in our relationship Mitch’s name has been Hamish. Derived from “Hey Mitch” sounding too much like Hamish and it pretty much stuck from there.”
On what he loves about Melanie, Mitch tells, ” I love how we are so alike and everything is so easy between us.”
On shooting their engagement in Bali, where is where they will wed, Mel tells, “We were all in Bali to celebrate a birthday together, and thought it would be good to get some photos there as we consider Bali like a ‘second home’ (photographer note: It nearly didn’t happen as the day we had decided to shoot – my last in Bali, it poured nearly all day! We were so lucky to get a break in weather really late in the day!)”
