Alex and Rhys
Alex and Rhys held their elegant Tasmanian wedding in a stunning vineyard. They chose Tim Coulson to capture the moments of their wedding day.
Alex tells the story of how she and Rhys came to be. “Rhys and I met at work in 2008. He moved from Tasmania to the Central Coast, NSW to begin his internship at Gosford Hospital and I had just started working there as a Speech Pathologist. We were working on the same ward at the time and noticed each other quite quickly. After several months Rhys asked me out on a date, and the rest is history. ”
Alex remembers, “On the day of the wedding Rhys sent over a beautiful gift and a card with the photographer. It was such a lovely gesture and so amazing to receive just hours before walking down the aisle.”
Alex chose a gown by Pallas Couture with her bridesmaids in lavender grey gowns. Alex remarks, “Pallas Couture’s designs are so beautiful and they were able to work with me to make a dress that suited my shape and style.”
Casey Gore Makeup styled the bride and bridesmaid’s makeup, the bride noting, “Casey had previously done the makeup at one of my best friend’s wedding in NSW. She was so incredible and is a bit of a goof like me so I instantly knew I had to book her for my own.”
Alex and Rhys chose Josef Chromy Wines for their ceremony and reception. Alex telling, “Our ceremony was in this beautiful corner of the front lawn overlooking the lake. We also had the reception there and the food was incredible.”
Alex walked down the aisle to her sister singing accompanied by her sister’s husband on guitar to Coldplay’s “Us Against The World”.
Of their photographer, Alex tells, “I have known of Tim for a long time as he also grew up on the Central Coast. I had actually met him through mutual friends several years earlier and became increasingly aware of his work as his business continued to grow. He has been the photographer for several of my friend’s weddings and their photos were incredible so we knew from the start that we wanted to book him for a wedding – he was one of the first vendors we booked. Photography was one of our most important elements of the day, neither of us are particularly at ease in front of a camera so it was so important for us to feel comfortable on the day. Tim’s style is just so natural and he seems to capture these incredible moments that no-one else would notice.”
Tamar Valley Cake Studio created a beautiful cake, Alex noting, “We had a simple cake with a rough buttercream finish and fresh flowers on top.”
The wedding favors were a handmade touch from the bride who remembers, “For our bonbonnieres we gave out little French apothecary jars filled with macarons. I ordered ribbon and gift tags from Etsy which I then hand-stamped with each guests name (with a little help from some friends).”
Being a sweet tooth, Alex wanted a lolly buffet which PWS Events styled in hues of pink and white. Alex noting, “My decorator/planner was PWS Events – they were amazing in perfecting every detail.”
Alex remembers, “For our reception we had the entire ceiling covered in fairy lights which added the perfect touch to the evening. We also had hundreds of mason jars filled with candles lining the walkway and balcony”
“it was very important to both of us to have our wedding at a venue with good quality food and wine. Josef Chromy had the best menu and use the most amazing produce and the food on the night was exceptional.”
Of their first dance, Alex tells, “It was so awkward. Neither of us can dance very well and we neglected to practice in the lead-up to the wedding. We danced to the Arctic Monkey’s cover version of “Baby I’m Yours.”
Congratulations Alex and Rhys! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you to Tim Coulson for sharing today’s wedding!
