Lauren and David
Something about navy and white and nautical wedding style by the water that enchants my sea loving self. Lauren and Daniel’s wedding paid homage to their love of the water and the memories they had of growing up at their favourite waterside venues. Captured by Lizzy C Photography on the Bellarine Peninsula.
The newlyweds story goes a little like this. “Teenage sweethearts, Lauren was introduced to Daniel through a friend when he was driving them to their first school social.”
Lauren chose a gown by Collette Dinnigan with her bridesmaids in blue frocks from Forever New.
Lauren and Daniel married at The Ol’ Duke, Portarlington (now closed).
Lauren walked down the aisle to ‘A Thousand Years’, The Piano Guys. The floral arrangements on the day were styled by Flowerbowl.
Wed by Ned married the couple. Lauren remembering, “We loved our celebrant Ned Hoskin from Wed by Ned who hosted a wonderfully fun and lighthearted service.”
Of their photographer, Lauren tells, “Lizzy was so approachable and immediately put us at ease during our first meeting. We especially bonded after a near death experience when shooting for our engagement, after almost being killed by a stampede of kangaroos in an apple orchard! We left Lizzy to her devices and she delivered above and beyond any of our expectations. We fell in love with Lizzy’s candid, natural photography. It was important to us not to have anything that was ‘trying too hard’ and Lizzy’s style was a perfect fit with our personalities. She is a star!”
DIY touches were everywhere, says Lauren. “All of the bunting was made with the help of my Mum and Nan over the course of a few weekends. We also made all of our wedding stationery, wedding favours, our large blackboard with seating details, our Pimms Cocktail table, wood and hessian on each table, decorations…. It was really important to us to have our day personalised and we were wrapped that we managed to achieve that.”
St.Leonards Yacht Club was chosen for the reception, holding special memories for the couple who tell, “St.Leonards has always been a very special place to us as some of our family moved there very early on in our relationship. We would frequently walk on the beach past the Yacht Club and it was a place where we shared many happy moments together. Transforming the Yacht Club into our reception venue made perfect sense and the day became truly ours when we could share that with our closest friends and family. It remains somewhere so special and now with so many happy memories, is a place we love to return to to re-live our wedding day together.”
“We wanted to honour our parents and grandparents on the day and decided to get photos of them on their wedding day to place on our entrance table. It was lovely to be able to remember their day on ours and also pay our respects to our grandparents who were no longer with us.”
Love It Cakes created a four tier wedding cake adorned with blue and white striped ribbon.
“As a last minute decision we decided to buy every guest a pair of thongs for the night as we wanted everyone up and dancing! This was one of the best decisions we made- everyone loved the thongs and no one was held back by uncomfortable footwear! It also meant that our guests could make the most of the sand at sea at our doorstep.”
Of the first dance, Lauren remembers, “We didn’t want a traditional first dance and decided to involve our parents as well. We danced to ‘Hey Ho’ by The Lumineers and got our Mum’s and Dad’s on the floor too- it was great fun! “
Congratulations on your marriage Lauren and Daniel! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Lizzy C Photography for sharing today’s wedding with us!
Envy the romantic wedding, the bride looks gorgeous in the gown.
