Jasmine and Jon
The water always enchants me, it lures one in and somehow has a greater story to tell. Jasmine and Jon chose a creek they love, one they have had many picnics at, together nearby to commemorate their engagement with photographer Britt Spring who although she lives in London, travels to Australia often (and hot tip – she’ll will be back in Australia at the end of the year if you want to book her!)
Jasmine tells the story of how she and Jon came to be. “Jon had only been in the country six months and spoke very little English and had reluctantly followed his flatmates out to the Valley for a night of dancing and high jinx. Both of us were not expecting to meet the love of our lives at a nightclub; but just goes to show that it doesn’t matter how or where you meet, when two people connect so intensely..that’s all that matters. Jon and I both felt a sense of knowing that night, we still laugh at ourselves trying to explain it to our friends and family how we knew, with such certainty, that we were each others big love!”
Jasmine remarks, “We have hilarious moments all the time; Jon’s English is pretty good now, but when we first met I was doing hand signals, drawings, charades, you name it! We have had more than several moments where the language barrier has made an ordinary moment completely hilarious. That’s the great thing about our relationship, we have the greatest fun doing the most mundane things!”
Jasmine tells the proposal story, which took place in Jon’s home town. “We took a trip over to Jon’s home town in Salvador, Brasil to visit his family. Jon planned a date night for us both; he took me for a traditional Brasilian meal in a small area of the city that is loved by the locals for its festive vibe, live music, and traditional architecture. I was already on a high from the atmosphere so I had no idea that that this was the entree for something much bigger.
Towards the end of the night Jon took me for some acai gelati by the main beach of Salvador, it’s a picturesque beach with palm trees lining the pathways and overlooks the clear waters of the Porto de Barra. I was tucking into my acai quite happily, shoes off, and taking it all in, when Jon suddenly gets down on one knee. It didn’t quite register to me that he was about to propose!?! It was so sweet, gentle, and sincere.
Jon really got me teary with his heartfelt dreams of us having children and growing old together, it was the most sappy we have ever been with one another!”
On what Jasmine loves about Jon, she tells, “Jon makes me laugh every day; he is such a playful person, and I love that when I’m with him I can be dorky, romantic, philosophical, and just weird…and he is completely okay with that! I feel blessed to love Jon, and to be loved by him.”
Of their creek engagement shoot, Jasmine tells “We love spending time in nature; going for long walks together, being rejuvenated by a day at the beach. We always knew that if we had the opportunity to do a shoot with a professional photographer that we would choose something that reflected our connection with each other and with nature as well.
The shoot is really special to us as it was our first photos after the birth our baby girl. Our daughter intensified our love for one another to a whole new level and we wanted to capture that, to freeze that moment of ”you’re my fiancee and I can’t wait to exchange my vows with you”. I love this shoot so much and cannot believe what an incredibly good job Britt Spring did!!!! ”
On what he loves about his wife to be, Jon tells, “Jasmine makes me smile; everything she does is done with a sweetness that I love. I never thought I would find someone like Jasmine, and everyday I remind myself how lucky I am!”
