Imogen & Cristiano
I love a modern take on tradition and Imogen & Cristiano with their all white wedding colour palette, modern venues and chic wedding day touches pulled together a day that was so wonderfully them and resulted in a stylish, modern Sydney wedding.
Imogen & Cristiano noticed a little mention we ran last year of London photographer Nabeel Khan of Nabeels Camera heading to Australia and jumped on it – I’m so thrilled to wrap up their wedding story with a Polka Dot touch!
On how they met, Imogen tells, ” We met several years ago after both working for the same company for years, we crossed paths at work.”
Kicking off the modern style was a bold black and white stationery suite designed by the bride (Imogen Moss Design)
Imogen added family heirloom jewels to her wedding day look, remembering, “My mum lent me her special sterling sliver cuff for the day. I’m not a big jewellery person but that with my great-grandmother’s earrings was just enough & perfect.”
Imogen chose a simple V neck gown from Moira Hughes Bridal Couture.
Paying homage to the bride’s father’s naval background, the couple chose Garden Island Naval Chapel for their ceremony. Imogen explaining, “My father was in the Navy and Garden Island has special significance for us. Not to mention, it is a beautiful two storey chapel in the heart of the navy base with views across Sydney Harbour.”
Imogen walked down the aisle to “Better Together” by Jack Johnson.
Of their photographer, Imogen tells, “I found Nabeel when searching for inspiration on Polka Dot Bride. After looking through his online galleries, I just realized that he was perfect for our us. He captures intimate moments that are not staged but just real and honest.”
Imogen and Cristiano chose The Pavilion Restaurant for their reception, Imogen telling “Our reception was at The Pavilion in The Domain, beautiful, classic and set in the park with views across Sydney CBD.” Guests were gifted Infused Chilli and Rosemary Olive made by the newlyweds as favors.
Imogen enlisted friend Ally Malpass to help things come together on the day, remarking, “A friend and simply amazing creative who brought to life the venue with flowers, decorations and our cocktails! She was the sole reason that all the planning came together just beautifully.”
Imogen’s designer background led to a lot of handmade detail, she explains, “I am a designer & photographer so I designed and planned most of the details and decorations at the reception. I designed our wedding stationery, the bonbonerrie, menus, and hand-wrote the seating plan and place cards. I pre-arranged all of the flowers at the reception and chapel.” Other floral arrangements on the day were styled by Grandiflora. “We have a soft spot for flowers – my bouquets were just gorgeous and Cristiano picked his orchid buttonhole – from the lovely ladies at Grandiflora.”
Imogen describes the day as, “Contemporary, modern & full of our personalities.”
For their romantic first dance, Imogen remembers, “We had grand plans of dancing classes, but with a quick engagement of only 5 months it slipped us by. Crisitano’s favorite singer is Bob Marley and we danced to ‘Waiting in Vain.’ ”
Imogen loved, “The songs that Cris & I chose together – they were all meaningful to us. Then at the reception having Fernando play a mix of Brazilian music alongside English songs really brought together our guests and created an unforgettable atmosphere.”
Congratulations Imogen and Cristiano! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Nabeel Khan of Nabeels Camera for sharing today’s photographs!
