Stephen and Kristy
Stephen and I met through mutual friends – I knew him for quite a while before we actually got together. It took one of our close friends to get us together as neither of us was going to make the first move! Not long after we started dating I went on a two month long overseas trip which just made me realise that I really loved this guy!! We have been together ever since!
Linda from the Rainbow room was in charge of doing our hair for the big day! She did a fantastic job and even came to the venue to give us a touch up before the ceremony. I had a great time collecting a variety of vintage antiques for the styling of our vintage wedding. I also hired some items from Kristy at Pretty Willow Prop Hire who has such a great collection of items to choose from.
My dress was a Pronovias gown from Tuscany Bridal – I instantly fell in love the moment I tried it on. The veil I wore belongs to my mother in law – she had worn it to her own wedding and it just matched my dress perfectly so it became my something old and borrowed all wrapped into one.
One of my close friends Holly did the make up for the entire bridal party. She is truly amazing at what she does and made everybody (including myself) look absolutely fabulous!
When we got engaged I knew straight away that I wanted to have a destination wedding – the first time we went to Denmark WA I just fell in love. It really is such a beautiful place and I knew it was the perfect location for our wedding. We stayed at William Bay Country Cottages (we stay here eveytime we go to Denmark) – I had arranged to book out all 7 cottages and we had most of our family and bridal party staying out there with us! Lindy from Lush Floral Designs created all the floral arrangements and bouquets for the day. She was truly fantastic to deal with and was great at deciphering what I was trying to achieve with all my pinterest activity!! I had many comments on the flowers and my bouquet was just beautiful.
We had decided to have the majority of our photos before our weddeing ceremony as this way we would avoid having a long gap between the ceremony and reception. However we hadn’t counted on it raining all day!! We actaully had a lot of fun improvising our photo locations and using a bunch of umberllas which we had to buy on the wedding morning!!
Our photographer was Nic Duncan. I cannot recommend her highly enough, she is simply amazing at what she does. By the end of our wedding day she really felt like more of a friend and was able to provide us with some amazing photos which I will cherish forever.
I chose ‘Angels’ by the XX to walk down the aisle to. I really love their music and I just felt as though it was the perfect song to hear right before I married my love! Kate Thomas was our celebrant for the day. She is such a lovely person and really helped us when it came to personalising our vows.
We chose to hold both our ceremony and reception at Pepper and Salt Restuarant at Forest Hill Winery. The whole team at Pepper and Salt were nothing short of amazing. The food Silas creates is divine – all our guests agreed that it was the best food they have ever tasted. Nothing was too much trouble – as it was raining all day the back of my dress got covered in mud before the ceremony!! When we arrived at the venue Rachel and Ang grabbed a bucket and some towels and basically washed the back of my dress for me!!
Our cake was made by Albany Cake Designs and was quite a talking point being covered with hundreds and thousands and topped with a vintage Mickey and Minne Mouse which I had purchased off Ebay.

Ms Gingham says: I’ve thought that Angels would be the perfect song to walk down the aisle to for so long! Great choice Kristy! Congratulations to you both!
Kristy says: “My name is Kristy I am 27 years old. I married my love – now husband Stephen last year in Denmark WA. Denmark provided us with a beautiful location for our destination wedding with most guests making a little holiday out of it. It was such a beautiful day I would love to be able to share it with other polka dot lovers!!”
