Chris and Tegan
I am one of the luckiest ladies around. I married my love on his family property at Tyrrell’s Vineyards in Pokolbin, in the Hunter Valley in November 2013. We planned to marry with the Brokenback Ranges in the background, but the rain Gods had a different plan… torrential rain didn’t dampen our moods though, and we got married on the dance floor in the barrel shed where our reception was all set up, hugged by wine barrels. You know what they say, “you can’t untie a wet knot!”
I have my own bridal label Tegan Asha, and wore my own design. My gown featured European metallic lace, and I wore Jimmy Choos to match. I wore a jewelled hair slide and my mum’s veil that she wore 32 years earlier. A friend of mine, Pru Moore, did our make up including my mum and nanna. She excelled!
I dressed my bridesmaids in Tegan Asha and they were stunning in their pale yellow silk chiffon gowns with jewel belt. We had a black tie dress code, and all the men looked fabulous in their tuxedos. Our flower girls were gorgeous in silver dresses that I found on Etsy. I am also a graphic designer and our stationery was all designed with our soft grey and pale yellow colour scheme. I loved the idea of our menus doubling as place cards, and then our bridal party and special people involved went on the back. This simplified the stationery as we didn’t require Order of Services.
We also placed different questions on each table, so that our guests could write funny, thoughtful, sentimental answers that we can look back on over the years, rather than a standard guest book. It made it extremely personal and Chris and I had a wonderful time reading them at the end of the night, barefoot in our wedding outfits with a glass of French champagne eating macarons!
Muse Dining catered, and we drank Tyrrell’s of course! Chris selected the wines from his favourite vintages and I absolutely fell in love with the images of the boys just before the ceremony, in the lab and the old winery. It’s an incredible honour to marry into such a wonderful family, iconic in Australian wine history.
My extraordinarily talented mum made our wedding cake, she has her own small business decorating cakes for all occasions called Create Cake By Sharon Brideson. It was beyond our expectations and tasted amazing too. Our wonderful florist, Yeng Tan, placed fresh flowers that matched our bouquets. My maid of honour’s mum decorated the space for our wedding and it was absolutely stunning. Words cannot describe the pride and beauty we felt when we saw the room, it was so classically romantic and colourful, and reflected our style beautifully.
It truly was a magical day and we thank everyone involved for making it so special and memorable. Can we do it all over again?
