Amy and Dave
If there is one request that hits my inbox weekly it’s for a space where one can celebrate with a beautiful outdoor wedding – fairy lights, beautiful food and dancing under the stars, so when Amy and Dave’s wedding came along, held by a river, with plenty of outdoor moments and dancing by moonlight, I knew it was one you’d love. Their photos were captured by the lovely Tigs Macallan.
The newlyweds tell the story of how they met. “We used to attend the same school and ride the bus together however Amy was closer with Dave’s sisters rather than him as he was a few years ahead. A few years ago we began hanging out and realised we got along really well and began dating. After dating for two years we traveled to Nepal and Dave proposed with Everest in the background.”
Amy chose a wedding gown by Grace Loves Lace and wore her hair curly and down. Her hair and makeup was styled by Miss Aimmey Hair and Make-up.
Amy walked down the aisle to John Legend ‘All of Me’.
Amy and Dave held their wedding at Tara Rise. Amy says, “Tara Rise is a beautiful B&B in Healesville. It has the most amazing gardens which we took full advantage of for our wedding day. We had our ceremony in the Rose garden and the reception was in a marquee set up on the beautiful front lawn of the property.”
Of their photographer, Amy tells, “Tigs was absolutely fantastic. She was really relaxed and fun and made us feel at ease. The pictures are very ‘us’, she had our bridal party jumping on the trampoline and the both of us with our shoes off crossing a creek at the back of the property. Not exactly what we were expecting to do between ceremony and reception but they ended up being our favourite shots.”
Amy and Dave enlisted the help of a wedding planner, Kate from Ashleigh K Weddings , remarking, “Ashleigh K Weddings (wedding planner) did an amazing job coordinating everything on the day ensuring we didn’t have to do any running around and could just sit back and enjoy the day. We could not have had the style of wedding we had without Kate there to make sure everything was running smoothly.”
The marquee was filled with handmade touches, Amy telling, “We were going for a relaxed night market kind of feel for the reception but still wanted people seated. We chose to do little utensil packs with bamboo utensils and a napkin wrapped in a paper bag. Amy’s handyman dad put together the signposts and we just painted them with blackboard paint and wrote directions in chalk. We collected old wheel barrows and barrels in the months leading up to the wedding to hold the drinks.”
The couple chose a buffet of delicious food from various caterers, Amy tells. “Because we chose a not so typical venue for our wedding we had to organise everything ourselves from catering to furniture – even toilets. After meeting a few different caterers we decided on a more relaxed kind of night market feel when it came to the food. We hired a food truck (Digging for Fire BBQ) and The Paella Pan to do a variety of dishes for people to enjoy.”
There was no first dance, but there was cake! Amy tells “For dessert we got Regnier Cakes to provide a dessert buffet and hired a coffee cart for people to enjoy a warm beverage. We had an outdoor dance floor with fairy lights and lanterns.”
Congratulations on your marriage Amy and Dave! Thank you for sharing the details with us! Thank you also to Tigs Macallan for sharing today’s photographs with us.
