Ivy and John
Ivy and John celebrated their Sydney Spring wedding with plenty of incredible blooms, that even their suburban wedding location felt almost like wandering through a far away secret garden. Captured by Clarzzique Photography the couple married in September, choosing a natural fun feel for their wedding day.
Ivy tells the story of how they met. “We met each other through dinner with friends. John’s colleague is my Uni friend Vincent. Vincent mentioned to us that he had a colleague who seems to be a bit bored (always go home for dinner, well that sounds like a good homey guy) so he wanted to introduce our group of friends to him. After we met, John called up to chat and we ended up chatting on the phone for 4 hours!! For me, I always like to meet new friends and I thought this is a really good guy. He is certainly a good boyfriend for any single girl including myself. lol. I remembered that I didn’t bring enough cash to dinner that night so I used my credit card. When I cleaned my wallet a year later, I found that I still kept the receipt for that night. I still retain it in my wallet now.”
Amy Chan Hair and Makeup Artistry styled the bride and bridesmaid’s hair and makeup- Ivy choosing a wedding gown from Jennifer Regan.
Ivy made fun buttonholes for all the guests, telling, “I made 100 button holes in total, one for each of my guests. I started planning my wedding a year ago, referred to many wedding blogs including my favourite Polka Dot Bride website, and I found that the button hole was something simple that I could make. I got obsessed with making them so I decided to make one for everyone. Ideas evolved from make 6 button holes for the groom and best man etc to all the guests, to how do I present one hundred of them.”
Lina from Chanele Rose created the floral arrangements for the day and styled the decor, Ivy telling, “Thank you for the special design of the venue that wows every guest! We had a “Happily ever after begins here” sign with a pretty bridal arch as a feature for our ceremony backdrop – created by Chanele Rose flowers along with a lovely hanging branch floral feature over our Bridal table which made all our guests just stop and admire. The centrepieces were white bird cages I sourced from overseas and beautifully styled also by Chanele Rose flowers with a rustic wooden tree slab and beautiful spring blooms.”
The Deckhouse at Woolwich was chosen for the wedding location, Ivy telling, “Both our ceremony and reception were held at the Deckhouse Woolwich which was fabulous and the food was great, lots of compliments about their service. We had great weather on the day and the view was sensational. Could not have been more perfect!”
Ivy walked down the aisle to White Love- My Promise To You.
The ceremony had one little hiccup – not that anyone but the bride knew! Ivy remembering, “I really laughed out loud on the day during the ceremony. I should have followed what my celebrant said and repeat word by word afterwards, however, there were a few words that I missed out and I thought people noticed that. I felt so embarrassed that I couldn’t control myself and started laughing. Everyone questioned about why I was so happy after the ceremony, then I realised no one noticed about the missing words at all! Oh well… At least both John and I looked extremely happy in the photos.”
After the ceremony, the backdrop became a photobooth entertainment area! Ivy remarking, “I arranged a friend to help assist in taking off the leftover button holes, empty the ribbons and take them to the wedding arch. Together with the frames and arch, they formed the back drop of our photo booth after the ceremony. This was the main entertainment for my guests since we didn’t have a dance session. One of my friends also donated her Polaroid and my sister ordered extra films so that while the guests can use their phone for photos, they can also choose to have a Polaroid photo to take away with them for keep sake purposes. I think this way really involves everyone and keeps them away from feeling bored.”
Black Star Pastry created a watermelon and strawberry layered wedding cake. “The strawberry and watermelon wedding cake from Black Star Pastry concluded the wedding beautifully. Everyone remembered it and kept talking about the cake after the wedding.”
After the reception, Ivy and John celebrated with their bridal party with photos in a local reserve.
Of their photographer, Ivy recounts ,”I found Clarzzique video and photographer through Chanele Rose’s website. I really liked the rustic style wedding done by Chanele Rose so I think any photographer links must be good on her website. That’s how I started to get in contact with Clarissa from Clarzzique. Clarissa and Alfred are fun to work with. A few of my guests were amazed how cool our female photographer was, who looked really stylish. Thank you Clarissa for the numerous beautiful shots. I liked the photos from the last 2 hours in particular while they looked funniest and everyone felt relaxed after wedding.”
