Heather & Luke
Heather and Luke chose Spring for their Athol Hall wedding, They were married in the garden and then celebrated in the candle lit hall filling their day with spring blooms and gorgeous garden inspired colours.
The two newlyweds met in a pub and hit it off, having their wedding day captured by photographer Papertree Photography.
Heather chose an elegant gown from Louise Alvarez. Her bridesmaids choosing green gowns with cream lace from Alannah Hill.
Athol Hall was chosen as the one location for the wedding, Luke explaining, “We had the ceremony and reception at Athol Hall in Mosman. It is a hidden gem that we had never known about. The team there were great, helping us organise all the different aspects of the wedding. It was everything that we had hoped for and more.”
Heather walked down the aisle to Slide McBride performing “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” through a rustic tin megaphone.
Portobello Rose created the floral arrangements for the day.
Of their photographer, Luke tells, “Sam was great. She made us feel comfortable and relaxed and on a few occasions we even forgot she was there. She was even very patient when Luke didn’t answer her knocks on the door as he was relaxing by the pool. We were so happy with all the photos, even when our family photos when everyone got a bit rowdy. We will definitely be using Paper Tree Photography in the future.”
There were a few DIY touches, Luke telling, “Heather’s mum has some amazing calligraphy skills so she did some really nice signs. We had old fence palings that we cut into arrows and wrote ‘Ceremony’, ‘reception’ and ‘games’ on. We also had an old gate that we put up at the entry to Athol Hall with our names on it. The place cards would have taken us the longest. We had different photos that meant something to us as a couple and photo shopped each name on. We then had corks as the stands for each card.”
“”The Harbour views and understated candle lit cottage at Athol Hall helped make the day.”
For their first dance, Heather remembers, “Luke and I didn’t have the traditional dance lessons so we winged it. I had talked to all my bridesmaids beforehand saying that they needed to join us on the dance floor as soon as possible to take the focus off us! ” Slide McBride continued the musical performances throughout the night.
