Edwina and Tom
Edwina and Tom, high school sweethearts chose a Geelong at home wedding for their special day, but my favourite part is that they married in their school courtyard- what a nod to times gone by and life. So beautifully captured by Leo Farrell Photography.
As for how they at high school, Edwina tells, “We were high school sweethearts! Tom was new the school in year 11 and we had maths class together.. it was love at first sight.”
Edwina and Tom chose a sentimental place for their wedding ceremony – Geelong College.“We had the ceremony at our school in a beautiful big courtyard with vines all over the walls”
Edwina recalls, “I designed my dress and the bridesmaid dresses (but got them made) and I did the beading on the bridesmaid dresses so they had my personal touch! ”
Edwina walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon in D.
Of their photographer, Edwina recalls, “Leo Farrell is the best, we didn’t need to pose at all, he just captures moments as they are happening. We love that. Everything is so natural and not contrived. We love his style. ”
Edwina and Tom celebrated with guests at “my family home in Ceres. Drinks and canapes out the front of the house and then dinner and dancing in a marquee.”
The bride’s mother made the wedding cake topped with fresh flowers.
The wedding was catered by Truffleduck. Edwina remarking, “Truffleduck did an amazing job on the catering as they always do.”
Dinner and dancing followed in the marquee.
The newest arrival to the family made the wedding, Edwina recalling, “My only sister/matron on honour had her first baby four days before the wedding! The baby had to stay in hospital for five more days with a minor infection, so we thought she wasn’t going to make it to the wedding. After a very stressful and emotional week (for both of us), we found out on the Friday afternoon (for a Saturday wedding) that she could. It was such a relief and we were all so happy.”
For their first dance, Edwina recalls, “We danced to ‘This will be (an everlasting love)’ by Natalie Cole, it was fun and not slow and parents and bridal party got up pretty quickly to dance with us!”
Congratulations Edwina and Tom! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you Leo Farrell Photography for sharing today’s wedding!
Such a beautiful story!
Wow, how lovely! Does anyone know what kind of flowers were used in the bouquets, they’re beautiful.
What a wonderful job the bride did designing her own gorgeous gown. Suited her perfectly. She looked so young and fresh and lovely.
