Renee & Brendan
Renee and Brendan chose a retro feel for their fifties inspired country wedding out at Sylvan Glen photographed by I Love Wednesdays. The property hosted the entire weekend (including providing accommodation!) allowing the bride and groom to celebrate all weekend with their guests!
Renee tells the story of how they met. “We actually met in France on a Contiki tour. Who would have thought. We weren’t even on the same bus, but our tours kept running into each other throughout our trip and then we met up back in London.”
Renee tells how the day got started. “We had stayed at Sylvan Glen the night before our wedding day so the boys had arranged a golf tournament the morning of the wedding at the golf course on site. I had my Mum deliver a present to Brendan before they went out to play which was a set of personalised golf balls with our names and wedding date on them, along with a note telling him to enjoy the morning and I’d see him soon at the bottom of the aisle.”
Renee wore multi coloured glitter heels from Kate Spade. The floral arrangements for the day were styled by Bunches of Heather.
Renee remembers, “Our ceremony was in the grounds of Sylvan Glen around a beautiful structure where we hung pompoms and a chandelier.”
“I didn’t see Mum when the photo was taken but I love the photo of Mum crying as I walked down the aisle. It such a special picture.”
Of her walk down the aisle, Renee remembers “I walked down the aisle to Into My Arms by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. We both love that song and it gives me tingles whenever I hear it.”
Of the feeling of the ceremony, Renee notes, “We wanted our ceremony to be quite casual and lighthearted so we decided to write some humorous vows for each other to say on the day. We kept what the other had to say a secret though, and only found out as the celebrant read out our lines to repeat during the ceremony. It was really funny and filled our ceremony with laughter.”
Renee’s bridesmaids wore custom made black and pink lace gowns. The bride chose a gown from La Sposa.
Of their photographer, Renee says, “Len from I Love Wednesdays was fantastic. She has this great skill in making her photos look like art and capturing the moment. This was exactly what we wanted in a photographer. We’ve had so many comments on how beautiful her photography is.”
“I love that Len got a picture of the brooch on my bouquet. It was my Granny’s and was my “something borrowed” from my Mum.”
The reception continued at Sylvan Glen.
Of the pastel, vintage inspired decor, Renee remarks, “We did quite a lot ourselves from making the invites and stationery, to making all of the table decorations and styling. I couldn’t have done it all without the help of Brendan, my Mum and my Bridesmaids. Seeing everything come together on the day made it all worth it. I was so proud of what we had created.”
The couple snuck away for sunset portraits.
Of their first dance, Renee remembers, “For our first dance we played Boy & Bear’s rendition of Crowed House’s ‘Fall At Your Feet’. This is one of Brendan’s favorite songs and really fit the moment. We played ‘All My Friends’ by LCD Soundsystem as our last song. It brought everyone together as we all danced in a circle and was the perfect end to an amazing day, reminding us of how lucky we are to have such great friends and family around us.”
Congratulations on your marriage Renee and Brendan! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you to I Love Wednesdays for sharing today’s images with us!
