What is your favourite region? The Mediterranean with its clear aqua waters and exquisite beaches offers everything you could want in a honeymoon or a fantastic getaway. The Greek Islands are the perfect place to indulge with amazing authentic Greek recipes to Michelin star restaurants. There is an array of spa treatments on offer and water sports for the more adventurous. I visit every year and can’t wait to get back every year. We also help organise weddings in Santorini and the photos undoubtably bring a smile to my teams’ faces. Always so beautiful with the amazing Mediterranean waters in the background that seems to go forever.
For the romantics, Santorini is often the first choice for travellers. The sunsets over the Caldera and the most photographed worldwide and it’s not surprising because they are breath taking. It’s a magical feeling. My resort pics would have to be Canaves, located in Oia, offers freshly renovated rooms and a friendly warm environment. On The Rocks is a delight to behold as you soak away your worries at the pool bar or sit on your private balcony and watch the ships sail by. Carved into the side of the rock Sun Rocks is an amazing romantic holiday. All three have exceptional service by lovely staff that want to make your holiday a memory you want won’t to let go of. In Mykonos, The Mykonos Grand and Petasos Beach offer the ultimate hidden experience on an island known for partying and celebrations.
Your suggestions for great honeymoon activities
Walks through Oia as the sun sets over Santorini, sipping cocktails by the pool as you soak in the sun, visiting one of the many beautiful beaches with the black, red or yellow sand. You can also take a sunset dinner cruise on a small catamaran with a maximum of 16 people in Santorini or do tours from Mykonos to Delos, cruise around the island or take a day trip to Super Paradise Beach with its spectacular blue water and where you arrive by boat.
The ideal location for a proposal?
We just had someone propose on a sunset cruise in Santorini, the captain and the crew was involved in the moment and were minding the ring while the couple swam. As the sun went down the groom got down on his knee. Beautiful! For me I think on the privacy of your balcony overlooking the water in Santorini would make for a magical moment, with the hotel providing a private dinner and champagne.
Best kept secret honeymoon location?
Amorgos! It is such an amazing and untouched paradise! You can discover the island on foot, spend your days at the local Tavernas or at the 5 star resort. It offers the best of everything and best of all the lack of tourists makes it the perfect escape.
I’m now dreaming of the Mediterranean sunshine and crystal clear waters – thanks so much Halina! If you’d like to spend your Honeymoon discovering the delights of this amazing part of the world, head over to Greece and Mediterranean Travel Centre for all the best spots!
