Manjri & Manesh
The city always provides such a great backdrop for engagement photographs, especially if it holds a special place in your heart. Manjri & Manesh wanted a simple, down to earth and fun setting for their engagement photographs (captured by Oy Photography ) and made the most of the city’s offering of interesting backdrops!
On how they met, the couple tell, “Back in 2001 there was a formal party in New Zealand that their parents were attending. Manesh was 16, Manjri was 14, both were there because of their families. Manesh and Manjri happened to walk around a corner into each other (as it happens – like in the movies, only in their situation there was no background music or wind blowing, and papers falling…). It was an awkward-love-at-first-sight moment & it began from there… Friendship that was almost certainly love from the very beginning.”
Manjri says, “I love Manesh’s humility and his positivity in every aspect of life. He always makes me smile and loves me unconditionally; he’s incredibly supportive, he’s my strength and I love him, everything about him.”
Manesh remarks, “I love Manjri’s resilience, her courage and strength to make a difference in the world. She’s an incredible person and I absolutely love and adore her.”
“Over the past 11.5 years, there have been many hilarious situations. Having been through the lot, from being in the wrong place at the wrong time, getting caught, all sorts of embarrassing moments… so many delightful funny memories it’s difficult to just pick one.”
“Manesh didn’t feel the need to propose in an ‘out of this world’, extra-ordinary style. The engagement was simple, Manjri was asleep, Manesh slipped on the ring on her finger, and it was a done deal. We told our friends and family. It was only then that we realised, our engagement wasn’t that simple after all, and it was not ‘official’ until we had our traditional Indian engagement ceremony in Rotorua, New Zealand. We ended up having quite a big engagement celebration (not so simple after all, but it made the parents happy). To tell you the truth though, it was a lot of fun, and it was perfect. And now we’re planning the wedding, it’s going to be one of those 3-day long events with so much colour, food, music and festivities. Can’t wait!!! ”
