Tim and Lauren
Tim and I and first met at church, we had known of each other for a few years and became close when my brother started to date his sister (they married 3 years ago). We dated for about 5 years before Tim proposed in Noosa last September. We went up the coast for the day, Tim had organised for us to hire a scooter and cruise around to the different beaches. We found a really nice beach around the headland that was a little secluded so it was nice and quiet. We were swimming for a little while; the water was beautiful but freezing! I looked at Tim and he was shivering so I asked if we could head in and lie in the sun for a while, Tim said not yet which I thought was a bit strange. A few minutes later he proposed; he opened his hand and there was a ring – he was holding it in his hand the whole time we were in the surf!
We’re from Brisbane but have spent a lot of time at the Sunshine Coast and we’ve had a lot of great memories there so we decided it would be perfect for us to have a Sunshine Coast Wedding. We were originally going to have the ceremony at the Maroochy Botanic Gardens and then head to the beach for photos; however because of the torrential rain that weekend we decided to move the ceremony to the Millwell Road Community Centre Hall. We weren’t disappointed though, we were so excited to get married and the rain couldn’t dampen that. Carolyn from Bridal Bliss decorated the hall beautifully for us and was such a huge help in preparing for the day; even though our plans had to change we didn’t have to worry about a thing, she thought of everything.
I wore the ‘Jacqueline’ dress from Bella Donna Bridal and my bridesmaids wore ivory and black dresses from After Six. We had 5 bridesmaids, 5 groomsmen and 3 flower girls in our bridal party. It was so much fun to have so many friends and family participating in our day. My dad is a pastor so he performed the ceremony, we loved being able to have someone so close to us play such a significant part in the day.
Danella from I Do Makeup Artistry did an awesome job with our make up and everyone was so happy with how it turned out. Sandi from Rolling Scissors Mobile Hairdressing did a great job with our hairstyles. Both ladies were so wonderful and getting ready in the morning went so smoothly with their help. Sarah from Twig & Blossom created gorgeous bouquets, corsages and centrepieces for our day. I don’t know too much about flowers, so I just sent her a picture of what I was hoping for and she took care of the rest. We were so impressed with the flowers and received so many compliments on the day.
Our photographer was Jess from Jess Gunn Weddings Photography and Design. She was amazing! Jess captured our day beautifully and we couldn’t be happier with the photos. Because of the rain we were unable have our photos where we had originally planned; Jess came up with some great under cover locations on the spot that suited the style of wedding perfectly. Our photo sessions were lots of fun! We were able to just be ourselves and enjoy the moment with our bridal party.
Our wedding reception was held at the Buderim Tavern. Glass windows surrounded the room and looked out over the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, providing a stunning view and atmosphere for the evening. Elisabeth from Elisabeth’s Cakes created our wedding cake. We decided that we wanted something a bit different and went for a ‘naked’ cake. Bridal Bliss did an amazing job at decorating the reception room and provided a lolly buffet which was very popular with the guests.
We had the most amazing day and even though not everything (like the weather) had turned out as we had originally planned, it was the perfect day for us, we got married and spent the day surrounded by our family and friends!
