Brenton and Rachael
Our wedding day was one, which I will never forget! It truly was everything we could have ever imagined and more. From the moment we woke to the moment our heads hit the pillow it was a truly magical day, far beyond our wildest expectations! We tied the knot at St John’s Cathedral in Brisbane City, followed up a stunning reception at Customs House in Brisbane along the river. I hope that you enjoy some snippets from our special day. If only we could relive the day all over again! I know that in my dreams I do. For everyone who is planning their big day, happy planning and may you enjoy every single moment with your fiance. I’ve been married for seven months and could not be happier. Here is our wedding day love story… Complete with love, laughter and tears of joy. Our magical day was filled with so many amazing moments – Enjoy!
The girls got ready together at the Meriton Apartments in Brisbane city.
Our hair and makeup was done by the gorgeous Rebecca and Lauren of Rebecca Calvert Hair and Make-Up Styling. They did such a wonderful job. Thank you guys for everything that you did to help on the day!
Our invites were letter-pressed by Neisha from Creative Emporium and featured our very own monogram and French theme to perfectly suite our wedding day!
Brenton my husband-to-be getting ready for the rest of our lives together! Both Brenton and I were actively involved in planning our ‘big day’. It was such a special time for us.
A welcome sign hand-written by our stylist Amanda of Adorn Event Hire greeted guests as they walked in to the Cathedral at St John’s.
We also hand a hand-made “ring book, aka love book!” which the page boys carried down the aisle.
The boys waiting at the alter with Brenton. We had such an amazing bridal party – the bridesmaids and groomsmen were all simply amazing. We couldn’t have asked for a better group of our nearest and dearest to be there with us on the day.
After tears of joy and pure emotion in the vintage jaguar “our official wedding car”, Dad and I arrived, with the bridesmaids/flower girls and our mums in the stretch limo in front of us. The big moment had finally arrived! My tears turned to big smiles as I took a deep breath before the ‘big moment!’
I held Dad’s hand so tightly. It was such a special moment. One which I had dreamed of leading up to our wedding day! Everything we had planned, was all now turning in to a reality! The excitement was so very special.
Out of the car we go and I prepare myself for walking up the Cathedral’s steps. Dad was there to help me every step of the way!
Up the Cathedral’s stairs, leading me to my prince charming Brent, who I about to marry! All of my hopes and dreams have just come true in life.
An extra special shot during the ceremony, showcasing my stunning bouquet, hand-made by a dear friend, Archara of Archara Wedding Flowers. Thank you so much Archara! I also had my bouquet preserved and it had a gorgeous little brooch on it to match my detailed bodice on my gown. Taking time to choose the perfect flowers really does make all the difference on the day!
Brenton and I sharing a very special moment during the ceremony with Pam Hynd, our Reverend. Our Mums were included in a special part of the ceremony with a candle blessing – it was so sentimental and joined our two families together!
My husband and I share a sacred moment together during our ceremony. Our love is so very strong and we’re so excited to spend the rest of our lives together, proudly as husband and wife. Our vows were the most amazing words and ones which I believe we’ll never ever forget. True love.
Doves symbolised our love becoming one and staying together forever in our lifetime!
Myself on the stunning balcony at Customs House, our beautiful reception venue! Brenton and I enjoying a special kiss on our bridal shoot! This was one of many on the big day!
My personalised garter was also my “special something blue!” It was a special momento on the day!
We had a stunning vintage type-writer table for guests to write us personalised notes!
Our wedding cake was made by the ever-talented Louisa from Cakes Alouisa! IT WAS SO AMAZING!
I love this photo of Brenton and I. Such a special one. Two has now become one. Mr and Mrs Tickner!
My Mum, Debbie Williams and I enjoying a special moment together after the most magical ceremony! Some of our guests, including our family members wore special headpieces. It was very much like a proper English, Royal wedding! We are from England and very traditional with wedding values.
My stunning sister, Rebecca who I love dearly! She was my maid-of-honour on the day. She is also my best friend in the whole wide world. She looked so stunning on the big day.
Our flower girls were so amazing! They were like little princesses. I love them both so much! xo
Our wonderful bridal party. Family and our best friends made up our special bridal party! Having fun on bridal shoot location at the Emporium Hotel!
My beautiful bridesmaids. We had so much fun on the bridal shoot. We went for a classic vintage look! Lace parasols were the perfect touch!
I had a ball on the bridal shoot! Brenton and I had lots of fun with my lace and hand-beaded Cathedral length veil…
Brenton and I enjoying another extra special moment. I could not stop looking at how “handsome” he looked!
Our amazing photographer was Focus Films.
We stopped in to a French cafe in the heart of Brisbane city to enjoy some delicious macaroons!
Running in the rain and Brenton being such a gentleman! It was lots of fun with an afternoon rain shower! The Hero shot of our wedding day was used in The Sunday Mail as our ‘official wedding photo!’ We chose a combination of ‘black and white photos and coloured photos’ for our wedding album and also had a video, both provided to us by our suppliers, Focus Films, who were amazing! Something else which we included which our guests really loved was our French themed photo-booth! They were able to take away ‘a little momento’ to keep from the day. It was a real hit!
Brenton and I carried a coin of Brenton’s late Dad so he was there with us on the day. It was a beautiful way to remember Brenton’s Dad and his presence was most definitely felt on the day.
My Tiffany travel pouch which was gifted to me by Brent and was another “something blue”, which I carried. It was used to keep our special good luck mementos with us on the day. Such a special memory. I also was given some little pieces from my Nan in the UK who couldn’t be there on the day. I received a silver diamante cross which I treasure still to this day and wore my grandmother’s 60 year old ring which was my “something old” – my “something new” was my bracelet which my parents had bought me, it was hand-made by a Sydney bridal designer.
Our styling reflected our wedding theme of French elegance! From our monogramed 4-tiered wedding cake to our lolly buffet, Parisian photo-booth or our French letter-pressed invitations, everything tied in just perfectly to our wedding day theme. All of the little details do count!
And that my lovelies is our “wedding day French fairy tale” love story. 🙂
THE END!
I hope you enjoyed this post and happy wedding planning. May all of your dreams come true!

Wow! I love all the things you had for your somethings old, blue and new. You’re attention to tiny details is inspiring. Wish I’d done the same. It only takes a little creativity.
