Trent and Cassie

Trent and I had been together for almost five and a half years when he proposed in Rome on Christmas Day in 2011.

Of course everyone but me saw it coming. In fact, prior to our winter in Europe I had a thousand and one family members and friends tell me I was going to return with a diamond on my finger, I always laughed it off. It was the shock of my life when Trent got down on bended knee on the chilly Christmas Day morning in our hotel room in Rome.

Planning the wedding will remain one of my favourite and most treasured moments with Trent, through all of the laughter, arguments, stress and meetings with vendors and suppliers we grew more in love – something I didn’t think was possible.

One of the best parts or planning the wedding was our engagement shoot with our photographer Sheila Higgins. We wanted the shoot to be something fun and true to us, so Sheila recommended heading out to a little country town in the Scenic Rim called Harrisville. Not only was it a great afternoon filled with love and laughter, it just so happened to be a bonus that we were able to borrow Trent’s uncle’s vintage Mercedes for the shoot, it definitely made the long drive out to Harrisville a lot more fun with the wind in our hair.

To keep my hair intact for the windy drive, I used a vintage scarf that used to be my nan’s. It turned out to be the perfect accessory to my outfit and set the theme for our classic 1950s engagement shoot.

Trent bought the black leather cap in a vintage store in Paris after he had tried on thousands of beanies, and it made for the perfect driving hat.
