Sarah and Michael

Sarah and Michael chose the Southern Highlands for their wedding. Their story is simple – they are childhood sweethearts who married on a day Sarah describes as “A magical day, sharing our love for each other in the presence of our closest family and friends”.

Captured by Lisa of Anna Blackman Photography who took the fun vintage elements and snapped them all in a fun way, let’s kick off this morning’s wedding~

Sarah says,  “We had our ceremony and reception in the beautiful grounds of Briars Country Lodge and Historic Inn in Bowral. Briars was the perfect place, and catered for exactly what we were after as we were able to stay on site with a lot of our guests for the whole weekend.”

Sarah chose a gown by Lilli Marcs. She remembers “I loved my dress maker – Lilli Marcs. The most down to earth, beautiful lady who made the whole experience of having my dress made a breeze.”  Sarah’s bridesmaids wore floral gowns from Elise Boutique.

Of their photographer, Sarah says, “Our photographer Lisa and her partner Craig from Anna Blackman photography were amazing. They were very relaxed and made being in front of the camera a lot of fun. We didn’t even notice them floating around at the reception as they went about capturing our special day exactly how we wished for.”

Sarah says, ” We made a lot of things ourselves: Mum was an amazing help with it all! We made our own bunting invites that matched the handmade bunting signage throughout. The flower arrangements, The vintage teacup candle favours, the upcycled vintage ‘cards’ suitcase, our guest book, the bunting ‘just married’ cake topper, the lanterns hanging from the trees, our home made cookies made by my mum, nanna and aunties for dessert, the jars hanging down the aisle, our dancefloor playlist for later in the night.”

For their first dance, Sarah says, “We decided to dance to the same song I walked down the aisle to, sung by our awesome band, Vanessa Raspa trio. We danced in the candle lit gazebo at dusk, under a pink sky. We had been practicing the dance in our living room for a few weeks before the day. It felt quite magical on the night.”
