After Emily married Trent (see their wedding Emily and Trent’s Chic Melbourne Wedding) she offered up these wise words of wisdom.
“Remember to enjoy the day as it slips by so fast – many of our married friends warned us of this and it turned out to be very true. Enjoy the fact that the majority if not all of your friends and family are in the same room at one time – something that may not happen again!
When planning, make a list that prioritises what is important to both of you for your wedding. This will help you realise what you can be more flexible on. Your wedding is meant to reflect you as a couple – customise it to how you like. Don’t do traditions just for the sake of traditions.
Remember to eat! We were so caught up in the day that we both ended up missing out on the incredible food. Our guests kept reminding us how amazing the food was in the weeks following. We ended up ordering room service back at the hotel!
Don’t stress! Everything always works out. Hiccups are bound to occur in the lead up – our original DJ cancelled on us the day before the wedding! But with the help of friends we ended up finding a DJ duo who couldn’t of fit the bill better! They played an eclectic set that reflected our tastes with tracks from The Cure and Pulp, as well as a tribute to Whitney Houston.”
