Julia & Jonathon
There is something to be said that is a wedding that is traditional, classic and simple. It’s beauty shines through with traditions, the echoes of those that have gone before. Today we celebrate the wedding of Julia & Jonathon who celebrated their beautiful wedding day in a classic Sydney wedding.
Julia and Jonathon tell the story of how they came to be. “The bride and groom met in a hostel in Prague while both were traveling. Jonathon was from Australia taking a year break from studies and Julia is from Austria. They maintained a long distance relationship for 2 years while Jonathon finished his studies in Sydney and Julia worked as a medical doctor in Germany. Julia finally moved to Australia in 2011 to be with Jonathon and that’s when he proposed.
3 months after the first wedding we had a second wedding in Vienna. We went through the great experience again.”
Photographs are by David Henry Photography who captured the day simply and beautifully.
Julia wore a strapless La Sposa gown from Fashions by Farina and paired it with flat ballet slippers by Dessy.
Julia and Jonathon were married at Knox Grammar School . Julia explains “Knox Grammar School Chapel was used as it was where Jonathon attended School as well as where Jonathon’s parents were married 34 years before.”
Julia walked down the aisle to, “Ben Harper – Out of my League played on the grand piano by Jonathon’s friend Ed King.”
Julia says “We placed a lot of emphasis on the wedding ceremony as that was the important part that represented out commitment to each other.”
Of their photographer, Julia says, “David Henry Photography. He was chosen as his photographs really captured the story of the special day and were not just snapshots in time.”
Oatlands House was the chosen reception venue. Julia remarks, “The reception was held at Oatlands House. It was the last time a wedding was held at the place before refurbishing.”
Julia and Jonathon made sure to put their personal touch on the day. Julia explains, “We made the invitations, place cards, wedding favours, table numbers, the wedding tree. There was nothing really prefabricated that we liked and felt was just us.” Guests received personalised M&M’s as wedding favors.
Of their first dance, Julia remembers, “We didn’t practice a lot; and it was obvious! ”
Congratulations on your marriage Julia & Jonathon! Thank you for sharing it with us! Thank you to David Henry Photography for sharing today’s images!
A romantic style bride and not onyl as it seems this was the leading idea for the whole event
Awww what a lovely wedding. The photographs of the Sydney skyline is quite breathtaking. I caught sight of the reception table numbers and they featured little birdies (am I right?) those were pretty cute. I’m assuming the wedding invitations carried the same theme as well. Lovely wedding, and congratulations to the couple!
The smiles on there face, can’t get any better. Guess the wedding was on Oatland House was it?
