Kendall & Mark
I love today’s engagement shoot. It’s so wintery, cosy and warm and pays homage to the couple – Kendall and Mark’s, story. Kendall and Mark have been together a long time and have a little boy Ned and twins yet to come! The wedding was moved (due to the impending arrival) so together with Mel Boulden Photography and Gabrielle Walsh By Gabrielle the couple decided to document their engagement.
Mel explains, “We decided to give them a cosy, comfortable and totally relaxing engagement shoot that would allow them to remember this special time. We felt it was important to include this aspect of their lives together. It may not be a ‘typical’ engagement shoot but one which suited them to a T. It was shot in the Adelaide hills on a property belonging to the couple’s friends. Simply stunning bushland.”
Mark tells their story. ” Despite being avid campers and outdoors types, I decided to propose on a camping trip was not going to cut it. Instead, I opted for the first possible moment (in order to get it out of the way asap) we had alone on a resort holiday in Bali. Completely not our scene – although we’re broadening our scope now that twins are expected. We’re definitely going to need a bigger tent.”
Kendall tells her side of the story. “Mark proposed to me (on bended knee) in Bali. We were about to have lovely dinner (including babi guling – roasted suckling pig) and he was being a bit fidgety and eventually popped the question. He didn’t have a ‘real’ engagement ring at that point (and we still don’t – we are using my mum’s ring from 1964) but proposed using a ‘tweet’ ring. Essentially it’s a ring with enough room to have a tweet (140 characters) stamped into the edge. I’m a bit of a Twitter fan so it was lovely. He’d ordered it from Amsterdam. I won’t tell you what’s on it… but it’s lovely.”
“He took his sweet time to pop the question – especially considering we’d been together for 5 years, I’d moved interstate to be with him, we’d bought a house together and had a child – but it was worth the wait. Might be another 5 years before we tie the knot now though with twins on the way!”
Well done Mel! These are really beautiful and oh so Australian! Reminds me of distant memories of my childhood 🙂

What a lovely story, beautifully captured in a way that is genuine to the couple. Love that it’s not over styled too!
