Happy Monday Dotties! It’s time for another week of gorgeous Australian (and international!) weddings and beautiful wedding inspiration!
First things first though of course, a warm shout out to the fabulous members of Ms Polka Dot’s Directory
Ms Polka Dot’s Directory is filled with fantastic vendors who “get” Polka Dot Bride readers and when I say “get”, I mean they’re incredibly excited to bring unique, creative ideas to life and they’re simply brilliant at what they do! There are humorous, down to earth wedding celebrants, brilliantly talented photographers, cake bakers who create works of (delicious tasting) art, florists who rise at the crack of dawn to create floral arches, bouquets and arrangements brimming with colour and even gift registries packed full of your favourite products with easy to use systems for your guests!
Today’s vendor of the week is Melbourne photographer Tigs Macallan Photography. I’ve been drawn recently to the way Tigs plays with light- it’s almost as if her couples are bathed in the golden sunshine. Tigs, originally from South Africa, is now based in Melbourne with her family. Tigs adores photography and I adore the candid, nose crinkling moments she captures!
We asked Tigs of Tigs Macallan Photography five questions in five minutes –
What is your favourite after five drink?
Definitely a glass of white wine. Or Champagne if I’m feeling extra special.
Your favourite weekend getaway?
I love adventure and new things but I would have say that it would need to include the beach. My kids love playing for hours in the sand and we have great family time making crazy sand creations. The wide open space of the sea deeply refreshes me and slows me down. Good food and wine need to be in there too:)
Favourite restaurant?
Probably The European in Melbourne. It’s a bit of an old man’s joint but the food is amazing and it reminds me of my Dad.
What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?
Poached Eggs on Spinach with Smoked Salmon.
Your favourite wedding story?
I shot a wedding a while back when it totally poured with rain ALL DAY!. To add to the Chaos, the venue had double booked the ceremony space with a yoga festival…. It couldn’t get much worse than that! I guess what I found so beautiful and inspiring was the depth of character this couple had. They completely understood that the day was first and foremost about them coming together and beginning a new chapter together and this crazy day was somehow going to be a good tale to tell one day. They had heaps of fun and so did I 🙂
