Angela and Rob
Winery weddings are so much fun and today’s celebration is a relaxed one filled with colourful, whimsical touches and plenty of pretty in pink!
Angela tells their story. “Rob was best friends with the brother of my house mate when I was at uni so we had been friends for a few years before we snogged at a cocktail party 12 years ago. The next day he rang me to ask me out on a proper date and we have been together ever since.” The couple have two adorable children together.
Photos today are by Natalija of I Heart Weddings (who has now relocated to regional NSW and is available for weddings in Sydney and throughout NSW). Nat always creates such a dreamy atmosphere with her photographs.
Angela chose a strapless gown with feather detailing by Bridal By Aubrey Rose she paired it with pink sparkly bow heels from Wittner and shoes from Melissa for the reception.
Angela and Rob chose Upper Reach Winery and Broads Restaurant for their wedding venue. Angela explains “We wanted one venue to have both the ceremony and the reception so our guests could relax and have a couple of drinks and canapes whilst we had our photos done. Upper Reach Winery and Broads Restaurant was perfect as we loved the big tree to get married under and the winery had a cottage for hire attached to it so I could get ready with my bridesmaids and later in the evening Rob and I could put our two children to bed. ”
Angela walked down the aisle to “The Waifs ‘Love Serenade’. I get a bit nervous with lots of people staring at me and the song is a bit boppy, My Dad and I decided to dance down the aisle.”
Angela’s bridesmaids wore pink polka dot gowns from Modcloth. Angela created the bouquets herself using flowers from the markets. She says “I bought all the flowers for the bouquets and the table setting the day before at the flower market. I think all flowers are pretty so I just went with what I found on the day. We had carnations on the tables and carnations, tulips, roses and billy balls in the bouquets. I wanted messy posy bouquets so my maid of honour, her husband and I made them up the day before over an afternoon beer.”
Of their photographer, Angela says “With 2 small children I didn’t have a lot of time to run around meeting heaps of photographers so I did lots of research online and fell in love with Natalija’s work straight away. Both of us is a bit camera shy so we wanted fun candid shots with lots of natural light. I loved that in her photos, the people always look like they are having fun and not just standing around posing. I told Natalija my vision for the wedding was a kind of fun DIY, quirky, vintage twist and she did a awesome job in capturing the day the way we wanted. Rob and I also decided that we wanted a DIY photo booth to capture all our guests. We asked everyone to use all our props and decide “what we should do for our honeymoon”. Natalija was great in creating the message board postcard for us and backdrop and between us we gathered a ton of really random props which made for some hilarious photos.”
Angela and Rob handmade a lot of details. Angela explains “We didn’t want a typical cookie cutter wedding and wanted the day to really reflect us so we organised it all ourselves. In the days leading up the day we made up hessian table runners, menus, tissue poms to hang from the ceiling, made black boards to use as signs, arranged all our own flowers, made chocolate moustaches and lips on sticks as thank you gifts that could be used in the photo booth (96 lips and moustaches and the venue forgot to bring them out!!!). We planted succulents in teacups that sat on the tables that our guests took home that night. I made a finger print tree that all out guests stamped their thumb prints on as leaves and signed their names on. We thought it might be a warm day so we also put out a basket of wooden fans for the women to help themselves to, to keep cool during the ceremony. ”
Congratulations Angela and Rob! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to I Heart Weddings for sharing today’s photographs!
