Olly and Lauren
Our ceremony had been PERFECT. After exiting to Angus & Julia Stone’s – Big Jet Plane, we had an acoustic guitarist play whilst guests stood enjoying canapés and French champagne.
The bridal party headed to the pier for an hour’s worth of photos and then we had our family photos in front of the crowd.
A note to all brides; make sure you steal a good 10 minutes in a bridal suite with your groom and bridal party before your reception entrance – it was some of the best minutes of the day for us.
Our reception was bright yet romantic, packed with all our goodies mainly bought from Etsy, an abundance of flowers by Kate Hill Flowers and candles. Another acoustic guitarist played during entree and main, bringing a fun, lively atmosphere to the night. After the main course we had speeches and in true L-OLLY (our celebrity inspired nickname) fashion they carried on WAY longer than expected!

A quick cake cutting followed before dessert was served, again brides note; make sure you have some of your cake! Ours was made by Decorative Sweets but we were so busy getting it cut we didn’t even get to taste it!
After a mouthful of pudding we went straight into our first dance. Olly and I chose to dance to the first ever song we listened to together – Bon Iver, Skinny Love. As the song came on our MC announced “listen carefully!” … To my surprise it was Olly singing! It turns out Olly’s bucks do incorporated a ‘studio recording session’ where he recorded the track – no he isn’t a singer so he was VERY nervous I would HATE it! It was a surprise to him on his buck’s night and a HUGE surprise to me on the wedding night! It was such a special moment!

The rest of the guests joined the dance floor, cheese platters and chocolate hearts were served (again we didn’t get to have any!) and we danced well past our ‘closing time’. The evening’s dancing ended with a mass procession of the boys from the bucks do singing the Manchester United song – another recording they did on the buck’s day. It was a fun moment for Olly who knew from that moment forward he would be thrown into my families’ love of Aussie Rules Football! The venue was perfect and even the staff had a good time, kindly telling Olly and I that 45 minutes past lock out, our car was still waiting and we were the last ones left!
The following day we had a thank you breakfast organised at a cafe on the beach a kilometre down from the venue. It was the perfect way to see everyone off that were flying home and to talk more to those we didn’t have much time with the day before. Our wedding simply was everything we had hoped for and more. I now hope to recreate many of the special moments we enjoyed, by sharing my new found wisdom with Brides to Be through my own wedding planning business … aptly named dizzyBRIDE!

Ms Gingham says: “Glory, glory man united …” Very fitting I think! 😀 Thanks Olly and Lolly for sharing your fun filled wedding!
Lauren says: “28 year old Queensland born girl, who grew up in Adelaide and has called Melbourne home for the past 7 years! A Chatterbox, some say I could ‘talk under wet cement with a mouth full of marbles’! Organised, bossy, love to exaggerate a good story when I don’t remember parts! I love to play jokes and spoil my friends and family. Obsessed with my furry babies, Basil the Chi x Jack Russell and tabby cat hunter. Head over heels in love with my Pommy Bear Grylls look-a-like fiancé! Living a lucky life and extremely thankful for it!”

Hi Rosie!
The shoes were in fact my bridesmaids, she married her husband in them and then passed them onto me to wear! It was something I treasured from the day. They are comfortable and I believe you can still get them even though she bought them a few years ago! Plenty of similar styles available too!
