After all those months (or even years) of planning After all those months (or even years) of planning, your wedding day can pass in the blink of an eye. One minute you're getting ready with your favourite people, and the next you're wondering where the last 12 hours went.

We asked some of our Polka Dot Wedding directory members how couples can create a celebration that feels calmer, more intentional and a little less rushed.

Their advice is a beautiful reminder to leave room to breathe, surround yourself with people who make you feel at ease, focus on the moments that matter most and create little rituals that bring you back to each other.

Because the details are lovely. The flowers, the styling, the stationery, the perfectly planned timeline… But years from now, you'll remember the feeling.

Head to the link in our bio to read the full round-up and discover thoughtful advice from @zonzoestate, @danibartlettphotography, @nunuau and @vinnyandcharles

And Stacey from @everafterstationery brings just that: colour, whimsy and seriously lovely details! You can choose from her semi-custom collections or start from scratch with a custom design, plus there are luxe and eco-friendly options in the mix as well.

Basically, if it involves paper, print or a very good sign, Stacey has probably thought about it.

“Don't let anyone else chime in on your plans if “Don't let anyone else chime in on your plans if you don't want an opinion. Our wedding was perfect because we did what we wanted to do and what made us happy and relaxed on the day.” – @kasey.lee.walker & @nick.m.walker

There’s something so classically Canberra in Kasey and Nick’s wedding, but with a dramatic twist we don’t usually get to see. Maybe it was the spotlighted first dance, or the incredible red roses that flowed throughout the space. We think it’s the combination of both + the genuine love pouring out of every single shot captured by @whoshotthephotographer.

When we first really learned about designer Harvest Powell of @hopeandharvest, it was when she made her dear friend @suzie_stevens' wedding gown. Those were the words she said in one of Suzie's fitting videos, and they've stuck with us ever since.

Then we watched as Harvest designed and made her own wedding gown. Three pieces, 85 metres of raw silk. She designed her husband's suit too, and made them both herself.

Today we get to share all of Harvest's insights: how the idea for her own gown came to her, how the process unfolded, and why she thinks "should" is one of the worst words in wedding planning.

Harvest has spent her career making sure plus-size bodies get the same architectural, high-end gowns everyone else takes for granted. So when it came to her own wedding, there was no chance she was buying off the rack.

In this week's feature: the three-piece gown, the first look in a half-renovated house with no family there to share it, and everything in between. Find it at the link in our bio.

Imagine being set up by friends who met by chance on a plane… and five years later, you’re marrying that Frenchman.

Emily and Albin’s wedding has plenty more good stories too: lockdown walks, a proposal at Lake Elizabeth, vows in two languages, flowers made by friends and a dance floor they absolutely intended to keep busy.

There’s the moment the nerves finally disappear. There’s the moment the nerves finally disappear. The “we did it” look as a couple walks back down the aisle. The point where the invisible checklist gets forgotten and newlyweds stop hosting, stop checking the time and actually start enjoying their wedding.

Then there are all the moments nobody planned for: a grandparent watching the dance floor, old friends swapping stories, a flower girl asleep across two chairs, someone fixing a tie before the dancing begins.

Today on Polka Dot Wisdom, we have the fabulous @zeescott__ sharing what she sees from her front row position, and why the moments couples remember years later aren’t necessarily the ones that made it onto the run sheet.
