I love this Australian Garden Wedding inspired shoot Calli B Photography worked on with Lovebird Weddings (previously Events by Design) and Mondo Floral Designs at Queensland’s Maleny Manor. It’s got that lovely garden party feel with lots of eclectic, mismatched and beautiful items coming together- but with bold coloured fabrics and bold floral arrangements. Adding a little modern feel to the otherwise vintage party. The flowers, I think, completely lift his beautiful inspiration shoot from a vintage to festive.
Trudy of the Lovebird Weddings talks of her inspiration behind the shoot. “I will never forget my sister’s wedding in London…it was a balmy summer evening…her backyard was filled with an abundance of flowers, candles and lanterns. Mismatched rugs and cushions lay desperate for our laid-back attention as we sat and enjoyed cocktail fair and the perfect summer drink…fresh lime mojitos. It was perfect.
Lucky for all you prospective brides, there is a perfect venue on the Sunshine Coast in which to create that enchanted garden party feel, whilst also being served the most delicious award-winning food and wine. Set amongst stunning manicured grounds, and perched high in the Blackall Ranges to take full advantage of views over the coast, Maleny Manor is enchanting, decadent and every bit the perfect garden party location for our décor shoot.
In order to create this design, Lovebird Weddings chose an eclectic mix of natural wood and rattan furniture, vintage bottles and birdcages full of luscious florals, mismatched vintage plates, cutlery and glasses, and we handmade the gorgeous canopy from fabrics and tablecloths passed down through the generations (ssshhh! Don’t tell mum!).
Rattan armchairs- Rattan comfy armchairs teamed with floral cushions, perfect for ceremony and canapé furniture.
Home-made Bonbonniere- Make the most of the Sunshine Coast’s locally-made honey and jam. We’ve created fabric lids tied with natural string and cute little stickers to write your words of thanks.
Name tags pegged to wine glasses- Little wooden pegs + floral designed name tags = cute and easy place settings.
Registry floral in pewter jug- Looking for something a little bit different from clear vases to hold your florals? Why not scour antique and garage sales for some feature pieces. We love this old pewter jug for a registry design.
Floral fabrics- At Lovebird Weddings we adore fabrics. We used this floral fabric across the wedding canopy, reception chairs and throw cushions.
Old bottles and jars- Over the past year we have scoured local antique stores for these vintage bottles and jars. Perfect on their own, or embroidered with lace. Fill them with eclectic florals.”
This is absolutely gorgeous. All of the flowers, the cushions, the doilies, the burlap wrapped jam and all the other details makes this so inviting! I’d love to just pull up a chair and sit in the sun and enjoy a sunny Australian day while I take in all this goodness. It is lovely!
This is so beautiful. All the elements work so well together!

Love the colour and all of the details, just perfect!
Magical!! so beautiful! Well done Trudy, Mondo and Calli B! x
The place cards and bomboniere are simple yet so personal. A lovely touch that I’m sure guests would really enjoy. Especially in such a relaxed and romantic atmosphere.
