Over the last year we have helped brides, bridesmaids, mothers of the bride, wedding guests and women looking for something a little different choose styles and colours that not only flatter their body shape, age and skin tones but also their personality. So often, personality is an element that is overlooked and can make the difference between feeling comfortable in your outfit and owning your look to resenting the image that you are portraying to the rest of the world.

It’s always pleasing to hear brides say “I don’t mind what the girl’s choose as long as they feel comfortable” and depending on the bridal party the selection of styles and colours can vary in colour and/or style. This is not to say that bridal parties that opt for the same gown are not fashionable or contemporary. It’s quite the opposite. We believe that it is largely influenced by the girls’ personalities. We have received so many stunning images from clients’ weddings showcasing different styles in the same colour and the same dress in the same colour. We have also had clients choose different styles and different colours. There are no rules and the combinations are endless!
It’s important that you are honest about what you feel good in and let your personality shine!
Here are some tips:
– Encourage your bridesmaids to select something that they can see themselves wearing again. A dress that they can throw on with a little cardigan, flats or heels and some bold accessories. (It such a wasted opportunity to not enjoy your best friend’s day in a number that you adore and know that every time you slip it on it will bring back fond memories of your BF’s special day.)
– Take into account the personalities of your bridesmaids, as well as their body shape when choosing a dress style.
– Girls that want to show off their legs can opt for Paris/Cynthia/Alexandra. Lauren and Bella are great for girls with a fuller bust.
– Alexandra and Sophia styles work well on petite shapes and accentuate curves.
– Skirts gathered in the centre alone are fantastic for directing the eye away from hips and soft frills elongate the torso.
– For your pregnant bridesmaids, choose a style that has plenty of room for a growing tummy. Our Alexandra and Katerina styles are great for this.
– For the mother of the bride or groom, choose a sophisticated style such as Sophie in a darker colour such as Pewter with soft draping and just enough structure to enhance the ‘good bits’. Add a soft little jacket or a wrap if she feels she needs to ‘cover up’.
