Jessie and Jon
I have the sweetest wedding for you today- Jessie and Jon were high school sweethearts and together, they married in a country style ceremony on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Jessie and Jon loved planning the wedding day themselves. “Planning the wedding ourselves meant we had more input into the wedding, more flexibility in terms of cost and gave us a creative outlet! We both wanted our wedding to be something ‘a little bit different’. It was special (and also a lot of fun) planning our vintage, country?style wedding.”
Photos today are by Samantha of Shuttersnap Photography who has captured the celebration so beautifully! Samantha’s shots are so clear and vibrant, they compliment Jessie and Jon’s wedding perfectly!
Jessie designed her own gown and had it made by Silver Sixpence and carried a bouquet by Karinya Florist. Her hair and makeup was styled by Shannon Niven.
Jessie and Jon chose to meet each other before the ceremony.
A family friend drove the couple to their ceremony in his vintage T Model Ford. Jessie says “We’d had a lot of rain in the week leading up to the wedding so we were worried about weather on the big day. Even while we were getting ready, there was steady drizzle. Miraculously, the rain stopped for a few minutes when we got out of the car together and walked into the barn for the ceremony. And again for the photographs, we had a few hours of clear weather before it really set in during the reception. Despite meticulous planning, you can’t do much about the weather – but sometimes everything just happens right!”
Jessie and Jon were married at the Kenilworth Homestead. Jessie says “The Kenilworth Homestead is a 50 hectare property located on the banks of the Mary River in Kenilworth, Sunshine Coast hinterland.
We hired the homestead for the weekend and had the reception in the heritage barn and the reception in the new hall. The homestead package includes dormitory-style accommodation for over 100 people, a small cottage and four spa rooms, so most of our guests stayed the night.” The couple arranged the ceremony decorations themselves using white bows along the pews and white paper lanterns.
Jessie and Jon walked down the aisle together to a selection of string music played by family friends. The couple were married by Irene McLeod.
The ceremony was decorated with olive green table runners and masses of fresh, loose blooms from Bundaberg Roses. Jessie and Jon not only made the stationery, but also made the table settings and favors.
Bonnie’s Cakes & Kandies made the wedding cake while Jessie decorated it herself.
Being surrounded by family and friends was one of Jessie’s special memories. Enjoying the company of our beautiful families and friends. We spent several days at the Kenilworth Homestead before the wedding with family, which was a fantastic opportunity to relax and spend some time together. We are fortunate to have many generous people who contributed time and skills to helping us put it all together.
We danced to ‘Crazy Love’ by Harry Manx. Because we were so busy in the lead-up to the wedding, we almost completely forgot to practice the dance, but we ended up cruising through it!”
Thank you to Jessie and Jon for sharing their special day with us! Congratulations! Thank you also to Shuttersnap Photography for sharing today’s photographs!
