Geetha and Andrew

A true feast for the eyes this Monday afternoon- what a way to kick off a beautiful week on Polka Dot Bride! Geetha and Andrew married in a traditional Hindu wedding in Sydney earlier this year and this wedding? Well there is a soft spot in my heart for the glorious beauty of Indian weddings and this one is no different! It’s full of rich colours and such beauty!

Geetha and Andrew met online! Andrew saw a photo of Geetha on a mutual friend’s Facebook account and the rest? Well as they say, is history!

Photos today are by gm photographics who capture the vibe of each wedding so beautifully – beautiful detail shots, vivid colours and a sense of what was important to the couple.

The planner who brought everything together was Manjit Gujaral of Manjit’s Total Event Management.

In lieu of bouquets, each bridesmaid carried a cone of petals which Geetha made. “We bought all the raw materials for the bridesmaids floral cones (which the florist put together and provided the beautiful flower petals for). We bought a really nice thick textured creamy-gold paper, which we then tied a thick gold ribbon around. They worked out really well, and looked great on the day.” The flowers were styled by Vesna Grasso floral designer.

Geetha’s three wedding outfits and jewellery were purchased from a designer boutique in Mumbai, India called Sheetal. The bridesmaids had their gowns purchased from another boutique in Mumbai. The girls were dressed by “Radha, the lady who dressed both myself, my mum and all my bridesmaids was unbelievable. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who needs to get dolled up in Indian dress.” Geetha’s makeup was by Rani.

Geetha and Andrew were married at Curzon Hall. They split The Lady’s Pavilion into two rooms and used the smaller room (Sir Phillip Ballroom) for the ceremony, and the larger space (Sabrina’s View) for the reception.

Geetha and her bridesmaids walked down the aisle to a traditional Indian band playing traditional music.

Vesna Grasso floral designer set up the ceremony and reception decor. ” The crystal mandap (alter) that we got married under was just breath taking, and really suited the décor of the room that we got married in. There was a huge abundance of flowers in the ceremony which really lifted the room”.

The ceremony was a special memory of Geetha. ” The priest who conducted the Hindu ceremony  – he made ancient rituals relevant and interesting for not only the bride and groom, but everyone in the audience, whatever their cultural background.”

The wedding stationery was designed by Geetha’s friend Sarah Nguyen. “We designed the wedding invite with our friend Sarah around the idea of two Hindu deities – Radha and Krishna. She then went off and created a beautiful stylised image from our ideas. She also designed all the other wedding stationary, from the ceremony programs, to the thank you cards.”

Faye Cahill created a three tier cake of decadence in black, gold and red covered in red roses. The image on the second tier was a perfect replica of the drawing used throughout the couple’s wedding stationery  -and the tiers? Well – the bottom layer was hazelnut mocha cake, the second tier was banana caramel cake and the top tier was chocolate with white chocolate icing.

Geetha and Andrew danced a slow rumba to Ryan Adam’s  ‘My Love for You is Real’ before inviting all their gusts on the dance floor to celebrate the night away under twinkling crystal chandeliers.
